Stolen Innocence (Doctor's Training Book One) by Beverly L. Anderson & Kenyon Y. Hunt

Fascinating from the start! There is so much to unpack in this amazing read but the first most impressive to me is the the diversity - characters who are so vastly different and so realistic - different shades of color, body types, nationalities, sexuality.

From the Stolen Innocence blurb:

When desperate criminals find an easy target in the autistic neurosurgeon Kieran Sung, the young doctor is soon at the mercy of a local Irish mob boss with perverse desires. Despite suffering a life-altering event at his hands, rescue finds him with relative quickness. Circumstances pull him unwillingly into a situation that brings his world crashing down, destroying the carefully laid routines and structure he desires. Kieran needs to find a new way of living, but he's unsure how. He discovers comfort in ways he never imagined, within sensations of pressure and binding, something he has indulged all his life despite his mentor's warnings that it is abnormal.

Taking the hand of a childhood friend who desires nothing else but to help him, Kieran realizes his heart aches for more in his life. He looks around him for the first time, seeing the world in new ways that his upbringing prohibited him from doing. Circumstances bind him to a tattoo artist named Varick Jaeger, an actor named Carmine DeAngelo, and a bartender named Devan Sullivan. With this unlikely trio, Kieran must learn how to handle the upheaval in a life he now sees desperately needs change.

Stolen Innocence, part one of the Doctor's Training Trilogy, is a story of healing that examines D/s culture, the complexities of polyamory, and how people often deal with mental and physical trauma. Follow Kieran, Devan, Varick, Carmine, and the rest of their pack as they navigate a world that rarely accepts people who do not fit in with expectations.

GaleM's review:

All of them are perfect exactly in their imperfections. There are a lot of triggering situations/ on page or just mentioned/which the author has handled with painstaking care and love for the fine details. The same way real life isn't only sunshine and roses, but a lot of storms and thorns thrown into the mix. This was a rollercoaster of gut wrenching and heart warming moments, the sweet and the bitter, the feeling of being invincible and flying high followed closely by the felling after the crash and burn. Kieran - one of the main pillars of the story is a brilliant neurosurgeon. He is also neurodivergent and the way his unique beautiful mind works adds layers upon layers of intricacies to his personality. Only someone who has spent their life fighting to be seen and accepted, can understand fully the struggle to fit in the social stifling norms. This is a neverending fight for Kieran and he never feels well in this stagnant and restricting mold, finding his own unique mechanisms to cope. And this is only the beginning! There are also the stories of Varick, Devan and Carmine - every one of them has been through their own personal Hell. Merged and combined together all these stories turn into an unforgettable Path of healing, love and redemption. I loved how their polycule was formed with understanding, acceptance and open communication. One truly beautiful story with a lot of dark moments and twists.

Stolen Innocence is currently available as an e-book and paperback
