Rich Kid: Part 1 of Volt and Wallace's Duology (The SPARK Files Book 3) by Reese Morrison

An insecure heir to a robotics company, neglected by his family, finds a special kind of Daddy at a local brothel. But can a sex worker self-aware bot and a man always pursued for his money make a go of a real Daddy/boy relationship?

From the Rich Kid blurb:

Wallace
knows that nobody likes him. His family hates him. A young, upstart software engineer on his team has made him a laughing stock. And he can spot the money-grubbers who want to marry an heir to the Orbit Robotics empire a mile away.

When he gets an assignment to design software for sexbots, he meets a sexy sentient android who treats him like a princess… and discovers more about himself than he ever realized.

But is it all just a financial transaction, or is their relationship real?

Volt knows the difference between a client and a boyfriend.

But it’s getting awfully hard to remember when Wallace calls him Daddy. He knows Wallace has his flaws, but no one else has looked past his sexbot exterior to the person underneath.

As mysterious threats to his chosen family escalate, Volt has to decide if he wants to risk his heart and take the leap toward love.

Rich Kid is the first of Wallace and Volt’s duology, continued in The Spark Files: Book 4, Sexbot. It relies heavily on the plot from the beginning of the series, and it is recommended that you read them in order.

Rich Kid has an android Daddy who just wants to take care of his boy, a shy submissive trying hard to make the right choices, an unknown danger, lingerie, spankings, and a HFN.

SNik's review

Third in series (The SPARK Files), best if read in order and the first part of a duet. Science fiction. Daddy/boy. Light BDSM. Hurt/comfort. Dual POV.

Wallace helps run his family robotics company, but he doesn’t feel respected by his family or by his employees and has no friends to speak of. So when the chance comes to “research” being a submissive has Wallace meeting Volt, he happily pays to have a Daddy care for him and experiences someone caring for the first time. Both Wallace and Volt have to be careful though, both find themselves wanting a real relationship but how can they when everything so far has been a transaction?

The insecurity and loneliness Wallace experiences is so relatable, and even Volt has his moments of insecurity, but their Daddy/boy relationship really blooms into something special. I really enjoyed their spicy times and their shared vulnerabilities. As their story is to continue (the author says it will be released soon!) there is a mild cliffhanger for some of the overarching plotline.

Nicole's review:

This is the third book in the Spark Files series, and is definitely not a standalone. I would say it is running in a parallel time space of book 2, and will have spoilers if you try to skip it. For me it was very obvious when reading Smart Ass that Wallace would garnish enough attention for his own book. Reese has a way of writing underdog characters that makes you want to cheer for them. Poor Wallace is so miserable and deserved his happy ever after. I know we are waiting for part 2, but I was so thrilled with where they decided to end this book. Volt is probably my favorite SPARK so far. I really like that Reese gave them real life issues in addition to SPARK issues. He's so relatable and sweet. I cannot wait to see where they take the rest of their story!!!
