Smoke Screen (Station 69 Book 2) by Jacki James

Book 2 of the Station 69 Firefighter series continues to follow who is the arsonist after Station 69? Smoke Screen is a low angst brothers best friend daddy boy romance.

From the blurb:

If there is one thing club owner Jesse Harris knows, it’s that his best friend’s little brother Andy Ward is totally off limits. Too bad the sexy firefighter would be the perfect boy for him.

Jesse had long given up on finding a boy that fit into his life. Instead, he satisfied his need to take care of others by creating a safe space at his club for Daddies and boys alike to find each other. And that’s enough for him, at least that’s what he keeps telling himself.

And it was, until his best friend’s little brother showed up, looking hot as sin, and desperately needing a Daddy with a firm hand. Now he’s trying his best to think of Andy as Victor’s kid brother, not as the perfect boy for him.

Andy’s job means he is physically strong, but he’s still a boy, and when he becomes the target of a serial arsonist, all Jesse’s protective instinct kink in. He’ll protect what’s his come hell or high water, and make no mistake about it, Andy is his, even if he doesn’t know it yet.

Will these two men find the happiness they both deserve, or will it all go up in smoke?

Smoke Screen is the second book in the Station 69 series about the brave men who fight fires, rescue puppies, and fall in love in the fictional town of Vesper, Texas.

Molly Otto's review:

Jacki, who follows up to the men of Station 69, shows us just how well she gets this group of firefighters. This time around, we have the brothers best friend trope, and she shows this can be handled with grace and understanding. Andy moved to Vesper to be close to his brother when things were on a downward spiral back home in New Jersey. Jesse is Vic, Andy's older brother, business partner, and best friend. What he doesn't expect is to find the perfect boy for him in Andy. The arsonist is still terrorizing Station 69, yet from that chaos gives Andy & Jesse a shot at being together. These two have great chemistry and show us another depth into daddy boy relationships that's show us not all are the same, but what works for the couple makes them all the way they should be. I am looking forward to seeing which firefighter finds their match next!

Heather's Review:

OMG - I need more adorable boys who are fire fighters!  I love the way Jacki combines the take charge, ready to serve fire fighter with a boy who just wants to be loved for his bratty nature and taken care of!  I also loved reading Vic's perspective and how he overcomes his own challenges to become the Daddy Andy needs.

Don't worry, there's also a bunch of outside drama from the serial arsonist, plenty of cameos from past and future characters and lots of fire house comraderie!  I do recommend reading the Station 69 books in order, but if you just pick up this one, you'll definitely be able to follow the story.
