#ThrowbackThursday this week is Drive Back To You by CD Rachels. This is the third and final in the Formula Q series, set in the world of motor racing. This can be enjoyed as a standalone, though. There's best friends - to enemies - to lovers and a guaranteed HEA. So enjoy the excerpt and the book is available now.
From the blurb:
The public knows me as Daisuke ‘Kid Dynamo’ Matsuro, the newest recruit to the fastest motorsport in the world. What they don’t know is how close I was to another driver on the grid growing up.
As kids, Robesy was my whole world. We were closer than brothers, but then I ruined it.
Now, we’re neighbors who race against each other in front of the whole world. I want a second chance more than anything, but he hates my guts.
Over time, though, that old familiar spark returns between us. I refuse to move on without earning his forgiveness. I thought my dream was to be a professional Formula Q driver. Now, though, all I want is to drive back to Robesy. He’s my home, this is our race, and everything is on the line.
(“Drive Back to You” involves best-friends-turned-enemies-turned-lovers, sexual awakenings, rooftop pool dates, a romance that has been ten years in the making, and yes, lots of racing action worldwide. It is book three of a series, has a HEA, and can be read as a standalone)
Excerpt:
The cold armor around my heart begins to crack, and an ember of hope shines through.
“So…you’re…what, gay?” I ask.
“I’m working it out. I think I’m bi, because I’ve slept with a few girls over the years, as you know. They were kind of hot, but…” He looks back at me and puts his hand on my cheek. “God, Robesy, you are so damn attractive. And you are more beautiful and precious to me than anyone. It took years of me trying to build a life without you to realize it. That time away sucked, but now…now I want to go all the way with you.”
“You…want to sleep with me, too?”
He smiles. “I know I have a lot to learn and catch up on when it comes to being queer, but Robesy…” His thumb strokes my face. “I don’t want tomorrow if it doesn’t include you.”
And there it is.
The last of my defenses fall down, shattering in the recesses of my heart. All the holding back I’ve done, convincing myself I could resist Daisuke, is over. The love I have for him shines so undeniably. It’s been there since I was a teenager, and I finally let myself feel it.
“Fuck…I think I love you, Daisuke Matsuro.”
He gasps and smiles. “Really?”
“Kiss me and find out.”
Drive Back To You is currently available as an e-book and paperback and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
