The Amazing Alpha Tau Romeo and Juliet Project (Book 4) by Lisa Henry & Sarah Honey

Two star-crossed lovers have to keep their feelings for one another secret due to the fire their frats have. Will they be able to sustain their relationship and keep it quiet? Or will their ending be similar to Romeo and Juliet's and end in tragedy? The Amazing Alpha Tau Romeo and Juliet Project is the 4th book in the college frat series.

From the blurb:

When Charlie Mercer meets a cute guy at a party during summer break, sparks fly. But Tanner never calls him. Typical. At least he has his sophomore year at Lassiter and his fraternity brothers at Alpha Tau to distract him—and maybe this will be the year he finally meets someone.

College is meant to be a new chapter in Tanner North's life, except he's still stuck in the shadow of his older brother, Colt. Not only is Tanner going to Lassiter like Colt did, he's also pledging to Kappa Beta Rho because Colt was chapter president there. Whatever. Tanner's not interested in getting involved in the dumb frat rivalry that Kappa Beta Rho has going on with Alpha Tau. He's just going to keep his head down and his grades up until he graduates.

It's a solid plan, right up until Tanner realizes that Charlie is a member of Alpha Tau. And it turns out that keeping their hands off each other is harder than they thought.

The Amazing Alpha Tau Romeo and Juliet Project is a lighthearted contemporary m/m romance containing a ruined phone, two melodramatic frat boys, and a romance that spans the width of an entire street. Or something.

Angel's review:

These authors are so good at writing college mm romance books full of characters that you can't help but cheer for, laugh with, and relate to. Not to mention there are some unsavory characters that you wish gets the karma they deserve...

We first meet Charlie in the last book in this series, and I'm so happy we got his story. I wanted to learn more about him as soon as I was finished with the previous book. And I learned quite a bit about him within these pages.

Tanner is such a sweetheart! He reminds me a bit of Marty's character because at times he's a bit gullible and doesn't know what's really going on. Which is completely relatable, and realistic, I'm sure we've all been in that position at some point in our lives. While he is part of a frat he's not a frat bro in the sense that all he does is drink and party, He's mainly apart of the frat for his grades and for the connection with his fellow frat members.

I really liked how this story was written and how it was told. We start off with the two MC's meeting one night during the summer and then not talking or seeing each other until they bump into each other at college. I liked that aspect of this book, that they were able to rekindle something that both of them had yearned for. I enjoyed the tutoring aspect too, all of the talk about Romeo and Juliet really helped tie in the fact that they were studying. And the characters quoting Shakespeare to each other was adorable.

I laughed so much while reading this book and was smiling almost the whole time. This was such a joy to read, and I loved how Tanner and Charlie's relationship started. I wasn't a big fan of them keeping it a secret or the miscommunication but I get why that was important to the story and the plot. It really made it feel similar to star crossed lovers, which again, tied in Romeo and Juliet.

I adored getting to see Marty and Squirrel again, along with cameos from Briar! It was amazing that there characters made an appearance in this story. There was swoony first kisses, and steamy first times, but this book focused on the relationship development which I LOVED! So there is some steam for those who are wondering but it's not the main focus.

Overall a really good book and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Rogue's Review:

- college
- first times
- star crossed lovers
- forbidden/secret love

This is the 4th in the Alpha Tau series but can easily be read as a standalone - however I can highly recommend the whole series as it's super fun. Charlie and Tanner are two most adorkable idiots ever, and I love them both. I loved the cameos from the other guys too, and always Marty stole all his scenes yet again. Good to catch up with them all, except that one guy because yeah, he sucks and can go away.

This whole thing was so gosh darn sweet and wholesome and such a lovely change of pace, and really suited these two on their journey of discovery of love and each other. Loved Tanner getting all the Romeo and Juliet references wrong, and the whole thing made me happy while I was reading, except when it made me cry. I love this whole series so much, and Charlie and Tanner's story had me sitting up in the dark reading until I finished, because I could not put it down. Adorable.

Jacquie's Review:

While I enjoyed Tanner and Charlie's sweet and fumbling relationship, I was getting ready to shake some sense into both of them. They just needed to talk!

The Romeo and Juliet thing worked for the conflict between the 2 frat houses and was quite a challenge for them to overcome.

They had great chemistry together, and I enjoyed the additions of Nash and Awa. I just felt sorry for Tanner a lot. He was completely in the dark about what was going on.

Once they worked it out, though, they were golden. I really appreciated Charlie's chapter at the end and the fact that he and Tanner were still working things out. Charlie has some confidence issues to work through, which he seemed to be making strides with in the epilogue.

Less Marty this time, as we spend most of our time in the Kappa house. Loved the little glimpses of him and, of course, Briar was the bestest of best friends to Charlie, coming to his defense and sorting everything out. I liked seeing him from Charlie's perspective.

Heather's Review:

Rival frats make Tanner and Charlie the queer Romeo and Juliet of frat row and this is captured very well by Sarah Honey and Lisa Henry!  While neither of them is willing to die for the other, the sneaking around, the chemistry and the cameos from the other guys in Alpha Tau made this another fun and steamy read!  I think you need to have read the previous books in the series to get the full effect, but even jumping into this one for the first time will make you smile.
