Best Play: A Perfect Play Novella by Layla Reyne

It’s so hard to say goodbye…….

The finale of the Perfect Play series is a fun peek into the Christmas in July wedding of Levi and Marsh as they celebrate with family and friends. An unexpected investigation diverts them but doesn't interfere with their big day.

From the Best Play blurb:

When the best play is the marriage already made…

By Friday, Agents Bishop and Marshall must:
Solve an anything-but-routine burglary.
Determine why the house’s previous owner was murdered.
Avoid getting killed in the process.

Because on Saturday, Levi and Marsh must:
Keep an overdue promise to their son.
Entertain a house full of friends and family.
Say “I do” in the wedding their marriage of convenience turned true love deserves.

Marsh and Levi are determined to help a friend in need.
But they’re already six months late for a very important date.
If they’re not at the altar on time for their Christmas (in July) wedding, they’ll face their most terrifying enemy yet—their teenage son.

Best Play is the fourth book in the M/M romantic suspense series, Perfect Play. This series epilogue novella features Marsh and Levi at their steamy partnership best, as they make their way to the altar a second, forever time.

Nedra's review:

As expected, Marsh and Levi’s farewell was absolute perfection and more! Of course, David was present with his usual teenage hormonal crisis’ and of course, the adorable little Lily and her witty antics. It was so sad to witness their last case solved together in this world, even though I know there will be cameos, it will never be the same as their story. I especially enjoyed the references to chess in this series, too. Kind of gave it a little more depth and peek into the storyline.

I have to admit, Layla has pulled me into her world with this series. Well, technically Marsh brought me in but Layla made him so… Initially beginning Layla’s world with audio and Fog City, where Marsh was originally introduced, so I was a shoo-in for this series. Hopefully we will get updates on David and Lily, especially Lily, but David needs his HEA, too! Until next time!!

SNik's review:

#3.5 in series (Perfect Play), a novella epilogue, must be read in order. Quick read. Established couple.

Levi and Marsh are planning their second wedding, this time attended by family and friends. With a side investigation to help out a friend, the countdown to their wedding is filled with a last minute adventure as they try to solve a burglary and possible murder. This couple is one of my favorites (although Layla Reyne has a few at the top of my list), the fake relationship morphing into love and the found family as strong as ever. A touch of spice, a little romance, some family bonding, and some law enforcement action round out this fun finale as Levi and Marsh get their special wedding and HEA.
