Morgan (The Swift Brothers Book 1) by Riley Hart

Morgan is the first book in The Swift Brothers series by Riley Hart and it's already shaping up to be an emotional rollercoaster. This book takes you through the wringer of the brother's broken past and gives hope for emotional reconciliation in future books.

From the blurb:

Morgan

When I left Birchbark angry and heartbroken, I vowed never to return.

Fate had other plans.

The father I hate had a stroke, so now I’m back in the Upper Peninsula to take care of him. The locals treat Dad like royalty, while Dad vacillates between open anger and flat-out igcnoring me. Throw in my messy relationship with my brothers, and being in Birchbark becomes unbearable.

The only saving grace is Dusty, my childhood best friend. He’s always had my back, save for one night ten years ago that changed everything. Despite my endless family drama, Dusty becomes my solace, and it’s not long before our emotional connection becomes more. Dusty worships my body in ways no man has before, but more importantly, he’s stolen my heart. Except Dusty’s home is here, and mine is in Santa Monica, as far away as I can get.

While I’m battling it out with Dad and trying to hold the family together, my every impulse is to leave the first chance I get. But I can’t leave Dusty behind. Not again. If I want a chance at real happiness, I’ve got to work through this anger and grief…even if the hits keep coming.sma

Morgan is a small-town, friends-to-lovers romance with all the feels, heat, and character development you expect from a Riley Hart novel. It deals with themes of grief, loss of a parent/sibling (off-page), and toxic family relationships.

Molly Otto's review:

Another amazing read from the beautiful mind of Riley Hart. When we met Morgan in The Charmer, you knew he was someone special with a broken past that war too hard to let go.

Morgan is asked to return home after ten years away. In ten years, he deeply regrets not talking to the one person who always had his back. Dusty is the true backbone of the Swift Brothers, and with him, these boys have a shot to find closure. One past mistake changed the course of so many lives, and when Morgan returns home at last, the truth is frankly set free. With open communication, these two, along with the Easton & Rhett, are able to see they are worthy of love.

All three brothers have broken pasts that will tear you apart on how much they don't think they deserve to be loved. This is book one, and it looks like Easton is up next, and my heart is already bleeding for this broken boy who has gone through so much in not enough time. Cannot wait to see all the Swift Brothers get their well deserved HEA's.

Heather's Review:

I love a good second chance romance with a besties to lovers story... and Morgan delivers that in spades!    This book introduces us to the dysfunctional Swift brothers and gives us a fair bit of insight into who each brother is, as well as learning how Dusty's relationship to the whole family ..

We already knew that Morgan was going to have a complicated past after meeting him in The Charmer, but whoo-boy what a lot to start unpacking... I absolutely love Dusty, so sweet and patient and so receptive to others... I can't wait for Morgan and Dusty to make cameos in the next book, to see how their relationship continues to grow!

Of course, she's also saving the most complicated brother for last... I need to know Rhett's secrets now!
