Spinning Out of Control by Kit Barrie

We are back to the Monster Match series where monsters and humans are paired to find their match. In Spinning Out of Control the two learn to navigate their new lives in this shared sometimes harsh world.

From the blurb:

Seven months ago, Caleb’s life was turned upside down. A terrible car accident took away his hand, his career, and the confidence he once had. Feeling like a monster himself is as good a reason as any to join a monster dating app. Surely a monster wouldn’t be particular about looks, would they?

Teracht is a small spider. Well, small in the monster world, anyway. The human world offers the opportunity to, hopefully, not be eaten, and his webbing is useful in all sorts of medical and military technology. But what is a little spider creature with a big domination kink and a fear of leaving the house supposed to do to meet someone?

Can a damaged human and a shy monster overcome their insecurities to bring them closer together? Can confidence be gained through control, even in the midst of life’s tangled webs? Spinning Out of Control is a monster-human romance and part of the Monster Match collection. It is a standalone story with its own HEA.

Molly Otto's review:

Sometimes, it takes life altering events to change your perspective on everything. Caleb was a model before a car accident took away what he saw his whole persona, with reactions from the human world he decides why not give Monster Match a chance. Teracht is a agoraphobic spider like monster who is afraid to go in the real world thinking he will scare everyone.

When the two meet, they learn to make the other comfortable in their own skin. They have a sweet friendship that turns to more. They help bring all Terachts fantasies to life, and they are both able to have an active and fulfilling sex life. And those scenes were very well done. Overall, it's a good read, just not as good as the rest of the previous books for me.
