Inevitably Yves is the 6th and final book in the Immortal Assassins series. We finally get the creator and leader of the brothers' story, and it's a good one.
Long lost soul mates find each other again as the Immortal Assassins series comes to a close. Inevitably Yves is everything you want in a second chance romance paired with the perfect way to bring this well-done and well-loved series to an end.
From the blurb:
I gave up searching for an enduring love centuries ago. When my past walks through the door, I think I may have finally found it.
My history is a sad one, filled with longing and chasing dreams that always eluded me. But don’t feel bad for me. My life is incredible, unwittingly designed on my endless quest to find my fated mate. I created a beautiful family of five loyal and loving brothers. We have even more now with their mates and our lovely sisters in the mix. I couldn’t ask for more really, and the joy they bring soothes some of the lonely nights. Mostly.
All is well in New Onyx until my past blows the door down and I find out that everything I thought was true for centuries isn’t at all. The first man I truly loved is back and if that wasn’t shocking enough, we have a big, dangerous problem on our hands.
My heart wants to believe in second chances, but my mind knows all too well the pain of loss. As strong as I am, I’m not sure I could endure losing Damiano again. I may not have a choice though if we can’t work together to eliminate the threat that could destroy everything I’ve worked so hard to build.
When it’s all over, if we’re successful, maybe, just maybe, I’ve finally found what I was always searching for, and Damiano can see it was always, inevitably me.
Inevitably Yves is the sixth and final book in the Immortal Assassins series, a contemporary setting, MM romance featuring vampire assassins finding love with their fated mates. Book six features a melancholic, centuries-old vampire who gave up his search for the fated love he sought. This story has intrigue, a shocking discovery, a bitter, broken love interest in desperate need of comfort, and a swoony, steamy history between two vampires thousands of years in the making.
Rogue's review:
This is the 6th (and final!) book in the Immortal Assassins series. Series finale, paranormal, fated mates, continuing story, second chance with a helping of violence on the side. I have been waiting for Yves' story since the first book, I knew it was going to be good and I wasn't disappointed. Yves wants nothing more than his fated mate and has tried unsuccessfully over the centuries to find that, with disappointment after disappointment. I really felt for Yves, watching all his brothers find their fated mates when years ago, he lost the love of his life, thinking he was dead.
I loved Damiano and Yves reconnecting after all the centuries, these two have been through so much at the hands of their maker, we only know a very small fraction of it. I loved that there was zero angst, and their connection was as strong as it had ever been, and they just picked up where they left off as if they'd never been separated. It was so satisfying.
This story neatly ties up all the ends of the story that have been woven in the previous books, so as well as finding out Yves and Dami's story, we also get to tie up everything that's come so far. I have loved this whole series and this was such a lovely, low angst yet compelling story to finish up what's been a great series.
Molly Otto's review:
Now that is how you finish off a series! With a love so strong that even separated centuries once they come together again, the love is so pure they can not question it. I am so happy to say that Mia did Yves the justice he deserved. As the leader of this New Onyx Coven, he has shown that peace is possible when you work together and respect all people. Yes, people are taken care of when the rules are broken, but isn't that how it should be?
I am looking forward to seeing what Mia had in store for us now that this series has concluded.
Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:
"All of our dreams are complete now, for none of us could be truly happy until you found the love you deserve. What a joy to know you have."
YVESSSS!!! If ever there was a vampire who deserves an epic love story it's Yves. Throughout the entire Immortal Assassins series we have seen Yves be an amazing maker and leader of the House of Orpheus. He's always there for his brothers, whether for advice or just as a listening ear. He's shown immense happiness when each of his family members found their fated, all the while knowing his chance at such happiness likely died when the love of his life did.
I didn't know what to expect of the man who owned Yves heart. Damiano both was and wasn't what I pictured. It was obvious from the very beginning how much the man adored Yves. For his love to have lasted as long as it did no one could argue it wasn't true. He spent much of the book professing his feelings in flowery words and reminding Yves of how much he meant to him. It was lovely seeing Yves finally get the love he so desperately wished for.
"No matter what life threw at me, this love was destined. It was always, inevitably, Yves."
On the flip side of the coin, Damiano was less, I don't want to say mature, but he embraced his vampire nature with things like preferring to feed from the vein. His resurfacing also brought out long buried desires in our beloved Yves that broke my heart to know he spent so long repressing. Yves lit up with Damiano near and all of the brothers, though wary at first, were absolutely thrilled to see their maker so happy.
Yves is the last of the original Orpheus crew to find his mate, but that does not mean this world is done. Monroe has informed us there are more books to come and I can't lie and say I am not hoping a certain wily incubus will get a book in the future! There is also Hale and Tiago left unmated. There are so many directions this world could go and I am looking forward to finding out!
Heather's Review:
Did I want Yves to get his HEA, of course! Did I want the series to wrap up? NOOOOOOO...
Mia Monroe takes us on a wild journey and gives us a ton of backstory on Yves, his maker and his fated mate in this final installment of the Immortal Assassins and I was there for it! This book was definitely epic - spanning hundreds of years and giving us a glimpse into the origins of vampires. It was great to see the House of Orpheus coming together in their biggest battle yet... and seeing what a powerful weapon Yves unlocked to defeat his maker.
I love the way Damiano and Yves embrace their second chance at love and how they fit together, even after lifetimes apart.
I'm hoping for a spin off series - there are several characters who need their HEAs - Hale, Tiago, Paolo and of course, Vivienne & Viper, a helpful incubus, so many stories left untold...
