Mike Bravo Ops: Zeus by Eden Finley

We are back to the shenanigans of Mike Bravo Ops and its the resident playboys turn to fall. Mike Bravo Ops: Zeus is Callie's redemption story after the events of Mike Bravo Ops: Atlas.

From the blurb:

CALLIE

After constantly looking over my shoulder as I run for my life, I’m on the brink of giving up.
On happiness.
On love.
On life.

Which is why, when a familiar face shows up where I’m hiding, I shock myself by running again. Though, probably not as shocked as Zeus is when I run him off the road with my car.

For some reason, my survival instinct is stronger than my mind is, and I find myself fighting for the life I’m not even sure I want.

On the run and nowhere to turn, I flee into the arms of the last person I should. Suddenly, I find myself involved in one of the worst crime syndicates in Las Vegas, and no way to get out.

ZEUS

Why would Callie run away from me? I’m delightful, damn it. I mean, sure, he probably thinks I’m trying to kill him, but I’m not. I’ve been hired to make sure he’s okay and that he’s surviving after escaping an abusive relationship, making mistakes, and putting multiple people’s lives in danger.

He screwed up, but he doesn’t deserve to die for it. And now, because of me, his life is at risk yet again.

Technically, my job is done. Callie is still breathing. That’s all I was supposed to find out. But I can’t sit by knowing he’s selling his soul. His body. I need to get him out, and I’ll go to any lengths to do it.

Molly Otto's Review:

We all knew that when Zeus met his match, it was going to be a mess from the getgo, and he did not disappoint. Zeus has never let anyone back in after losing his sister and the disappointment he felt he wasn't enough to take care of her, so he ran to the Marines than Mike Bravo. Callie has been in one abusive relationship to the next, always hoping to be loved in all the wrong places and from the wrong people.

When these two paths collide once again a year after the Mike Bravo atlas aftermath, they embark on a journey to finally set Callie free. They build a friendship that helps both see they are worth more than they thought. When all hell breaks loose once again, tough calls are made. They must each learn they are good enough alone and can be something more if they both put a real effort into the relationship for a real shot at happiness.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:

"𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪..."

"𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙤'𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙣."

Zeus and Callie need to go out and buy a big ass truck together because these two definitely needed a place to put down all the damn baggage they carry along with them. I'm talking mac truck levels of baggage. First, we have Zeus and his emotionally unavailable self who puts on his slutty mask in order to keep himself from ever giving another person the power to hurt him. Then we have Callie, who if there's a manipulative and abusive dude within a 50-mile radius, he will inevitably find him and fall in love. Talk about a freaking pair!

These two had a lot to work through in order to get their HEA. Not only did they have to figure out how to get a mafia man off their tail, but they also had to navigate their growing feelings for one another. Callie's low self-esteem is his biggest enemy, while Zeus' is his fear of commitment. Even though Zeus knows that what he's feeling for Callie is different from anything he's ever felt before, he's still terrified of messing things up. Of being another reason Callie suffers, when he's already suffered enough.

"𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧."

I think them taking the time to work on themselves was a smart move, even though they both didn't feel it at the time. Callie needed to stand on his own two feet for once and Zeus needed some time to get his priorities in order. I did feel like there was definitely chemistry between the two, but I don't think they would have worked as well if they didn't have that time apart.

On another note, much like the rest of the Mike Bravo members, I'm super curious about the newcomer Haz. He and Decaf definitely have beef, but I don't know if it's really about what Decaf believes. It does have me wondering if their story may be next and if so, I'm going to take a guess and say it's going to be a bumpy ride!

About the Author

Eden Finley is an Amazon bestselling author who writes steamy contemporary romances that are full of snark and light-hearted fluff.

She doesn't take anything too seriously and lives to create an escape from real life for her readers. The ideas always begin with a wackadoodle premise, and she does her best to turn them into romances with heart.

With a short attention span that rivals her son's, she writes multiple different pairings: MM, MMF, and MF.

She's also an Australian girl and apologises for her Australianisms that sometimes don't make sense to anyone else.
