We are back with the boys of Palm Island in this low angst best friends to lovers novel from KM Neuhold. Easy Does It shows you can write a best friends to lovers story as simple as breathing, when both parties are ready, it's magic.
From the blurb:
Most of the guys on Palm Island call me the token straight guy. The truth is, I'm not so much straight as I'm just… nothing. Asexual, demi, the label doesn't make much of a difference to me. And living on an island that's nothing but parties and nudity half the year… well, let's put it this way… I'm the guy who sells clothes.
As long as I have Easy, everything else is a day on the beach.
I didn't think anything could ever change things between us… but that was before I saw the tape.
It's like seeing him that way flipped a switch in my brain. Now it's all I can see when I close my eyes. It's all I can hear. I think I want the real thing…
It's the middle of the season which means nothing but beach parties, theme weeks, and all of the insanity that comes with the six months of Palm Island being overrun by tourists flooding our shops from dawn to dusk.
Can Easy and I figure things out in the middle of all this chaos? Or are we just building a sandcastle that's bound to get washed away with the tide?
Molly Otto's Review:
Back to Neuhold's Palm Island. Childhood soul mates/ best friends Easy and Lux get their shot to be together. These two have been best friends since kindergarten, and nothing is going to stop them from being each other's person. Lux has a wake-up call and sees Easy (really anyone) in a new light, and once it clicks for these boys, it's pure magic. Nothing will stop them from being together til the day they die. A lovely read of laughter and love of this found family that will always own a piece of me.
What I love so much about this series is that the cast is all sex positive. Yes, they rib to each other for being promiscuous, but it's not hurtful it's fun, it's family. Another great addition to the Palm Islands, with Raven, Angel, and Devil on the horizon, I can not wait to see how she navigates that threesome.
SNiK's Review:
Fifth in series (Palm Island), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order due to the large cast of shared secondary characters. Best friends to lovers. Asexual/demisexual representation. Dual POV. Easy and Lux have been friends since they were in diapers, Easy has always accepted that Lux was his soulmate, so his extracurriculars were just that, nothing serious, and nothing that would get in the way of his relationship with Lux. Living on a tropical island with nonstop nudity and parties has never phased Lux, he’s never been interested in anything but making Easy happy, but one day he realizes that he may want something more, and it’s only Easy that has ever been his future. This story makes me want to gush about how swoony it was, how romantic, how heartfelt and emotional, every bit of it had me smiling and just so happy that Easy and Lux got to have each other in their lives. Plenty of steam once Easy and Lux establish expanding their relationship, just a fabulous addition to this fun series.
Sheena's Review:
I love this whole series, it's full of sun, sand, surf, and tons and tons of heat. This is a gay resort island where hookups are not only only condoned, they're encouraged, and Easy has certainly indulged over his years on the island. He moved to Palm Island with his straight, or possibly ace or demi best friend Lux years ago, and they're absolutely joined at the hip, they live together, sleep in the same bed together, for all intents and purposes they're in a relationship without the sex - Lux isn't interested in anyone, or so it seems. Until a screening of a porn clip Easy did years ago - he completely unashamed of it - quite right too - and both attend a screening party with all their friends to watch it. Everything changes when right at the climax, Easy utters Lux's name right in the heat of passion and it awakens something in Lux.
What follows is Lux finding that his sexuality isn't buried, it's just been Easy all along. Easy, for his part has been in love with Lux forever and these two finding each other and getting together is just the most adorable, and hottest thing, ever. As they're best friends it's not rushed, there's no angst, Lux knows what he wants with zero doubt and they're both all in right from the start. I loved it, I also love the surrounding cast of characters and even the island knew before they did (If you've read the series, that will make sense).
This is the perfect read, zero angst, tons of heat, best friends finding love and the happiest of endings. I'll be so sad to leave Palm Island when it's done, because this series is such fun.
Heather's Review:
Sometimes love looks different and sometimes it's a switch that flips to take longtime friends into lovers territory... and if it happens on Palm Island, so much the better!
I love the way that Lux unlocks his desire and how that brings his relationship with Easy to a whole new level. This is a low angst, high heat story and gives us a great glimpse into these two besties and their forever love.
Heartwarming, sweet, steamy and fun, with great foreshadowing on Raven's book, Easy Does It was a great read and definitely warmed my heart in this frigid season.
Easy Does It is currently available in paperback and e-book format and can be read as part of your Kindle Unlimited subscription.
