Prescription for Love by Ellis Colton

Mature men still making choices that will decide their future. Jake and Troy are in established career paths, but their relationship path is unsettled. We had 2 reviewers read Prescription for Love.

From the blurb:

Can a handsome, big-city doctor and a laid-back, small-town sheriff find the right balance for love?

Jake Gutierrez is the sheriff of Lamesa, a small town in Texas, where he knows everyone and everyone knows him. He's not interested in having a relationship--he prefers having some fun now and then on his own terms. With his job and his friends, Jake's life is exactly how he likes it: comfortable, enjoyable, and with no strings attached.

Dr. Troy Cooper, fresh from Dayton, Ohio, arrives at Lamesa General Hospital to finish his residency and mend his broken heart. Troy recently caught his fiance cheating on him (and on his new patio set too!).Now he's making a fresh start in Lamesa. No more relationships for him! He's single and ready to mingle!

He and Jake hit it off and they're on the same page. . . right?

At least, that's how it is until Jake's brush with a medical emergency makes Troy aware of Jake's changing feelings. Now Troy must examine his own heart, all while considering a major career opportunity move to North Carolina.

Prescription for Love is an MM romance featuring a slow burn, hurt/comfort, opposites attract in a delightful small town setting with a rewarding HEA.

"Engaging characters, hot chemistry, small town/big city tension, and a swoon-worthy happily-ever-after!"--Morgan Brice, author of the Badlands series

Reedkaye's Review:

I really enjoyed this sort of laid back romance. The main characters are guys established in their career paths. Jake is a sheriff in a small town. That makes everything he does community knowledge, including his relationship issues.

Troy is in his final steps of becoming a doctor.  When he has relationship problems, his only choice is to move to a totally different town.

Troy and Jake neither are looking for a relationship. Both plan on being friends and find they can go about their jobs yet meet and enjoy time together.

Then Troy is offered a chance career wise that is almost impossible to turn down. The only issue is he will have to relocate again.

There are many twists and issues involved in this story. I enjoyed it being about men able to decide what future they wanted.

KjnRose's Review:

This is the first book I've read by this author and it's amazing. I love small town romances and this one was done well. It's a slow burn, hurt/comfort read about Jake and Troy.

SNik's Review:

Standalone. Slow burn. Ticking clock. Quick read. Dual POV.

After discovering his cheating fiance, Troy is ready for a new start with a temporary job as a small town ER doctor and decides any future relationships will be strictly no strings hookups. Jake has never been interested in relationships. His whole focus being the sheriff is to take care of the people and his many friends in his small town in Texas.

The romance between Jake and Troy is mostly referred to and happens off page while they navigate dating in a small town while building and maintaining friendships with secondary characters.

Both men struggle to articulate their feelings and time is short since Troy has a position waiting for him in another state. Their actual on page interactions were sweet, and for a debut novella, the author provided a quick and entertaining story with two men to root for.
