Pretty Policeman: The Case of the Suspicious Stripper by Fifer Rose

Pretty Policeman: The Case of the Suspicious Stripper is a follow up novella to it's namesake and if you enjoyed book 1, you aren't going to want to miss it!

From the blurb:

Going undercover at a strip club owned by your mafioso boyfriend without running it past him first? Not the best idea. (Then again, a few spankings never hurt anyone… much.)

Micah Hart had learned a few things the first few months of officially dating Damon Romano, a vicious mafioso/ridiculously rich billionaire, infamous throughout New York City for his cut-throat “business” tactics:

1. Damon was soft for nothing and no one… except Micah (and maybe his sisters).
2. His domineering tendencies definitely extended to the bedroom.
3. Damon didn’t trust him – not completely.

That last one shouldn’t have hurt as much as it did. After all, there were bound to be certain obstacles to overcome in a relationship when one person was a mafia don and the other was a police-detective-turned-PI.

Damon keeps Micah far away from anything related to his “work”, and Micah allows it... at least until a stripper named Ginger waltzes into his struggling detective agency, claiming that her boyfriend - also a stripper - is trying to kill her. Ginger just so happens to work at Lust, the most infamous of a chain of clubs Damon has specifically warned Micah away from.

Taking the job would require him to go undercover at Lust, and he should say no.

But Damon is out of town for the weekend.

And Micah’s been salivating for an actually worthwhile case for weeks now.

What’s the worst that could happen?

(Psst. Spankings.)

"ʏᴏᴜ ꜱᴀɪᴅ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛᴇᴅ ᴀʟʟ ᴏꜰ ᴍᴇ, ɪɴᴄʟᴜᴅɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ᴜɢʟʏ ᴘᴀʀᴛꜱ. ʜᴇʀᴇ ɪᴛ ɪꜱ."

The first book in this series was an excellent debut and when I saw the author was releasing a novella length book which starts a few weeks after the events of book 1, I knew I had to have it. I read Pretty Policeman when it came out all the way back in December of 2022, but I never forgot Damon and Micah. The epic start to their love story was definitely one that was out of the norm, so it sort of stuck with me. I loved how Damon was so sweet and doting with Micah, but to anyone else, he was the definition of ruthless. He was such a contradiction that it was hard to believe everyone who kept saying how cold and vicious he was. That is, until the epilogue of book 1 when we got a glimpse into Damon's mafia don side.

"ɴᴏ ᴏɴᴇ ɢᴇᴛꜱ ᴛᴏ ꜱᴇᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛʜɪꜱ ʙᴜᴛ ᴍᴇ, ᴏʀ ɪ'ʟʟ ꜰᴜᴄᴋɪɴɢ ᴋɪʟʟ ᴛʜᴇᴍ. ᴘʟᴜᴄᴋ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴇʏᴇʙᴀʟʟꜱ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ɢᴏᴅᴅᴀᴍɴ ꜱᴋᴜʟʟꜱ. ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴜɴᴅᴇʀꜱᴛᴀɴᴅ?"

As you can see, the kid gloves have begun to come off when it comes to book 2. In hindsight, Micah definitely should have known better. He knew Damon was a possessive bastard, yet he agreed to go undercover in the one place he wasn't supposed to ever go - Damon's strip club Lust. As a reader, I knew there was no way Damon wasn't going to find out and boy was I right. The anticipation of when Damon would inevitably be informed had me on the edge of my seat and I honestly couldn't put the book down.

"ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ᴍʏ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛ, ᴛᴇꜱᴏʀᴏ, ᴀɴᴅ ɪᴛ'ꜱ ᴛᴇʀʀɪꜰʏɪɴɢ ʜᴀᴠɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜ ɪᴛ ᴡᴀʟᴋ ᴏᴜᴛꜱɪᴅᴇ ᴍʏ ʙᴏᴅʏ."

Pretty Policeman: The Case of the Suspicious Stripper takes place over about a month's time period. Things are moving along when it comes to Micah's and Damon's relationship. They had some hard topics they needed to discuss, but after all the blustering, they both took the time to hear the other person out, which I liked. Damon still treats Micah like a cherished gift, but he no longer seems to need to hold himself back when it comes to their bedroom activities. The steam was super hot, and it appears that Micah and Damon are both apparently into Daddy kink, which was not something I expected. I also loved how Damon could go from saying absolutely filthy things in Micah's ear one moment, to then telling him how absolutely precious he was to him the next. I already can't wait for more of these two!

SNik's Review:

Second in series (Pretty Policeman), must be read in order. Established couple. Slight age gap. Single POV. Quick read.

When Micah is approached with a new case, he knows he’s not supposed to go undercover at one of Damon’s clubs, but Damon is out of town so what he doesn’t know won’t hurt, right? Micah wants to help a stripper whose life is in danger, and unfortunately things do not go smoothly, especially once Damon returns to town.

Damon is his usual possessive and protective self when it comes to Micah, but Micah is no pushover and when they discuss their differences, they finally establish some honest communication and express their deeper feelings for each other.

There is plenty of action, fun secondary characters, and some steamy interactions for Damon and Micah. I really enjoy Damon and Micah’s growing relationship, the author’s writing style, and the mix of danger and fun. I eagerly await more from this series.
