Yours (Damaged Goods 1.5) by Scarlet Blackwell

Yours is a companion piece of the first book in the series, best read together.

From the blurb:

“If you’re not in love with Matt, then you must be in love with me.”

Lewis Green has his world ripped apart on the eve of the opening of his best friend’s bookstore. Matt Harmon’s almost killed in a car accident on his way to the launch and Lewis doesn’t know if he’ll survive. In his hour of need, he turns to his other friend, Nick, for solace.

Nick might work for Matt, but they haven’t always seen eye to eye. He’s not afraid to voice his opinion on the cold, self-interested Matt to Lewis and it causes untold friction. Nick can’t understand why Lewis and Matt are so close, but the idea that Matt might not survive and the effect it will have on Lewis, is too horrific to contemplate. Nick will do whatever it takes to be there for Lewis and see him through the darkest time in his life.

The two grow closer than they ever have and suddenly, things become confusing and both men start to question what they always thought they knew.

Possible Spoilers:
Themes: hurt/comfort, angst, friends to lovers, bisexual awakening
Genre: Contemporary romance
Warnings: Violence and strong language. Sexual scenes. PTSD.

The story is a prequel/companion piece to Heal Me and is best read after Heal Me for maximum enjoyment.

Sheena's Review:

Yours is the second in a series (It's billed as Damaged Goods 1.5), and as such really needs to be read after the first book, they're pretty well connected as the storyline for this one takes place during the first book, and both main characters here appear in that book too. I was intrigued by Nick and Lewis' story during the first book, and I'm glad we got it here. I liked them both and jumped at the chance to get to see their story from their POV. This is a bi/gay awakening story, best friends to lovers, but if you're expecting fluff, you won't find it here. This is a Scarlet story after all 😂. That's not to say it's not without its tender moments, and there is always an HEA at the end of it all.

I was reading this and remembering how much I didn't like Matt from the first book for much of his story, and feeling the same here. He was not a nice person at all, and pretty much makes our MCs lives here miserable for much of the book. He does redeem himself in his own book, so he does here too. I loved Lewis and Nick, neither of them into men before their attraction to each other becomes too strong to ignore, and they already have the friendship base to build on. I could knock their heads together, though, more than once, to get them to talk to each other. It's hot too. These two can't keep their hands off each other.

I enjoyed being back in the Moonlight Cove world, and look forward to more stories in this universe.

Tatted_book_freak's Review:

When I found out Lewis and Nick were having a secret love affair in Heal Me, I needed their story of how everything went down. Their eventful journey from friends to lovers was a rollercoaster, but mainly because of Matt (go figure). Honestly, it kind of shocked me that Nick stayed with Lewis after his actions regarding Matt. But, Scarlet always has something up her sleeve.

Scarlet charmingly guides Nick and Lewis’ relationship conversion from a standard friendship to an unexpected deeper connection, even with Matt fighting for his survival. I enjoyed the grit and heartbreak included with the story, the turmoil felt by both characters for the other was handled with maturity and they worked together throughout their resilience.  Amazing prequel and I cannot wait for more from these characters!!
