It's been a long time since I took an entire weekend off ARC reading and just read for pleasure, but since I was unplugging from all things blogging this weekend and I didn't know how much time I'd have to read while I was off with middle child on a road trip to see his beloved antique and vintage buses, I decided to treat myself to some time off and I figured I'd start on a series that I've had on my TBR for a while, especially since they're all novellas - Charity Parkerson's Sugar Daddies series.
From the blurb of book 1:
Zeke is the older man. The richer man. The man who plans to give Korey the world.
As MMA’s Light Heavyweight champion, Zeke’s million-dollar matches and multi-million-dollar sponsorships have given him the freedom to do whatever he likes. It pleases him to spoil Korey. Before Zeke’s best friend Charlie was deployed two years ago, he made Zeke swear he’d care for his brother Korey if anything happened to him. When Charlie is killed by a roadside bomb, Zeke takes the young college student in, determined to give him everything he requires to succeed. He never expects to end up hoping he can keep Korey under more than his roof. He needs Korey beneath him.
If Korey had been in his right mind after Charlie’s death, he would’ve turned down Zeke’s offer. By the time he realizes his mistake, he’s already addicted to Zeke’s powerful presence. He never meant to end up dependent on the man’s smiles and hot glances. The money, Korey could live without. The man has him hooked. There’s only one problem—neither man wants to cross the line from friends to lovers, ruining what they have.
Sugar Fighter is a short introduction to a new series by Charity Parkerson, Sugar Daddies. This series will feature male/male May/December romances where the men are hot, rich, naughty, and don’t like to be told no.
Heather's Review:
There are sixteen novellas in this series, and it's a testament to two things - the powerful pull of needing to know what happens with the next couple and the fact that my seventeen year old wanted almost nothing to do with me when I wasn't feeding him or acting as his uber driver that I binged the entire series from start to finish this weekend...
I started Thursday after I finished my last ARC read and read the last book in the wee hours this morning because my insomnia has kicked in really good... but that doesn't take away from the fact that this series was incredibly addicting and craveable.
This series does carry some trigger warnings, particularly since many of the books are born from a place where poverty, abuse and other issues are part of many characters backstories and one book does include a suicide attempt. It has Russian mafia, MMA fighters, businessmen, students, orphans and more... some of which will break your heart... please read the notes in each book for specific warnings.
There are themes of overcoming adversity, self acceptance and more that bring hope...
All of the books are M/M pairings until the final story which is M/M/M. Whether you are looking for a series to binge or just a series of quick reads to add to your TBR, I highly recommend checking out this series! I can honestly say that every book was 4-5 stars for me!
The best part is that the Sugar Daddies series is still currently in Kindle Unlimited, however I've noted that many of Charity's other series are now wide, so if you read in KU, today may be the perfect time to start this series before they go away!
