Resurrection Reprise, A Soulbound Universe Novel By: Hailey Turner Narrated by: Gary Furlong

"Great story and a brilliant narration." Lesetiger and Jacquie listened to Resurrection Reprise, a new story in the Soulbound Universe.

From the blurb:

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

Spencer Bailey has spent his entire life under government oversight for something he can’t change: his magic’s affinity for breaking souls. After surviving the end of the world, Spencer joins the Supernatural Operations Agency with the intention of keeping his head down and his hands clean.

Tasked with tracking down a stolen artifact, Spencer wants to run his first case with the SOA by the book. The master vampire of the Seattle Night Court won’t make that easy. Takoma is demanding and possessive, used to getting what he wants, and he lures Spencer into his Night Court with the seductive promise of freedom.

In the Pacific Northwest, ghosts are crawling out of the woodwork, demons are on the rise, and Spencer can’t afford to make a mistake. Torn between the life he should lead and the one Takoma is offering, Spencer has to make a choice that won’t break his soul, but it might just shatter his heart.

Lesetiger's Review:

This is my first book by Hailey Turner and it makes me want to read the rest of the series.

It's about Spencer, who sets out for Seattle to find a stolen artifact. As soon as he arrives in Seattle, he meets Takoma, the master vampire. There is a connection between the two from the beginning, going back to when they met in New York at an earlier time. But Seattle is Takoma's hometown and there is a new chance for the two.

I loved the sizzle that was palpable between the two men whenever they met. And guys, there are some really hot scenes. Takoma and Spencer run into each other more often, sometimes on business and sometimes in private. All the while, Spencer tries to act professional while protecting Takoma and his vampires.

Spencer and Takoma could not be more different. A mage who lives in the light and a vampire who needs the darkness. An interesting constellation, and yet they are meant for each other.

Very interesting were also the different species that exist in this story. Besides humans and were-creatures, there are vampires, demons and mages.

I found the story very entertaining and that I could put myself in the story well. That was also due to Gary Furlong. He conveys the emotions of the different characters as well as the drama and action, and I could tell the different protagonists apart. Gary Furlong did a brilliant job and Hailey Turner created a fantastic world.

Highly recommended!

Jacquie's Review:

I've been waiting for Resurrection Reprise since it was announced and honestly, it didn't disappoint. I thought for sure that it wouldn't live up to what I'd hyped it as in my head, but no, it was just that good!

Spencer, a soulbreaker that we meet in the main series (he was on Patrick's team in the military) is sent to Seattle to work on a case for a missing artifact. It puts him in the path of Takoma, the vampire master for the area, and someone he fought alongside in New York.

The pair have great chemistry and there is a ton of action and magic as Spencer tries to hunt down the mirror and also keep both the godpack and Takoma safe. There's a lot of possessiveness from the vampire towards Spencer, and really, with how much people are hesitant around him for his power, I think he needed someone that just wouldn't let him go.

I just loved that there were cameo's from loved past characters and that Wade spends some time with Spencer and his pyschopomp, Fatima. She was so sassy that she deserves a special mention. I get why Wade keeps trying to steal her. She's just that cool.

It would probably be best to read/listen to this after the main series.

The narration was well done. Exactly what I've come to expect from this narrator.

More please!
