Drowning in Danger (Liquid Onyx Book 3) by BL Jones

Drowning in Danger is the 3rd book in the Liquid Onyx series, and cannot be read as a standalone.

From the blurb:

Sixteen years ago, Alex Nova defied the impossible and shook the world to its core. He made children into superhumans and, in doing so, made a villain out of himself.

At age twenty, Rex Nova took the consequences of his father’s actions and used them to make himself into a superhero, so he could protect the world his father almost broke.

Unknown to him, however, are the secrets buried in his genetics. Hidden truths soaked in tainted blood.

Like his father before him, the choices Rex makes when his back is up against the wall will force him to confront things about who he really is, and what he’s willing to become to protect the people he loves.

This time, the consequences will be of his own wreaking, and the fallout will threaten everything he cares about.

Sheena's Review:

Drowning in Danger is the third in the Liquid Onyx series, it really does need to be read as part of the series, it's not a standalone. It also does end in a cliffhanger, so if you aren't a fan of that, then maybe wait for the series to be complete.

This is the further adventure of Rex Nova, and he really does go through it in this book (without spoilers). I know authors love to torture their characters, but poor Rex isn't allowed a single day of happiness without it being returned to him tenfold in misery. We've still got the triangle of Rex, Jamie and Damon here, even though it seems Rex has made his decision. There's so much going on in this book that I can't tell because it will spoil everything. Just know this is more Nova snark and craziness, more family drama and even more mage drama. I am really looking forward to the next, as this really put me through the mill.
