Casting Light went places I did not expect. There's so much that happens that I can't even say what my favorite part is! I'm both disappointed and happy that this is a duet. It feels like there are enough answers from both the books so that more isn't needed.

Bastian and Andras really go through it, and there are some emotional scenes. We also get answers about what happened to them all those years before. This was actually heartbreaking, but with how they have grown together, they deal with it. 

I really felt for Bastian in this book. He's such a sweet character with all his blushing and his sad past. In some ways, his past was worse than that of Andras. Both had to deal with more than kids ever should.

More steam than book 1, some humor, it wouldn't be an Alice Winters book without it and a sweet HEA.

Oh, and a special mention for Ssoren, the best snake pet. Such a fun addition!
