Take the Plunge by Colette Davison

When your brother strands you with your longtime crush, whats a boy to do? Kian doesn't mind trying anything to get Jett to smile, and why shouldn't he enjoy his one chance to be with Jett like he always dreamed. However, getting Jett to trust him and give them a chance may not be as easy. Take the Plunge is the new novel by Colette Davison.

From the blurb:

One weekend could lead to forever if Jett can take the plunge.

Jett didn’t expect to spend the weekend trapped in a remote holiday house with his best friend’s brother. As they try to pass the time, Kian’s bright enthusiasm starts to break through Jett’s gruff defences. When Kian offers to help Jett explore his desires with no strings attached, everything changes.

Fooling around when your heart isn’t on the line is one thing, but when the weekend ends, neither man wants their casual arrangement to end. Past betrayal has made Jett wary of trusting anyone, but even though Kian’s patience seems to be never-ending, Jett knows it’s only a matter of time before ‘no strings’ turns into ‘goodbye’.

Can Jett look past his fear and make the man who’s claimed his heart his?

Take the Plunge is a standalone contemporary M/M romance where a jaded man with a permanent storm cloud over his head falls for a sunshiny optimist. There’s forced proximity, an interfering best friend, swoony moonlight swimming, bi-sexual exploration, and lots of first times.

SNik's Review:

Standalone. Best friend’s brother. Grumpy/sunshine. Forced proximity. Dual POV.

Kian has had a crush on his brother’s best friend for years, and when they get stuck at his grandfather’s cabin, he gladly offers up his services as a tutor for the bicurious Jett. But Jett has sworn off relationships and hooking up with Kian starts to feel like he is using the man who makes him laugh and has become his comfort zone.

While Jett struggled with the feelings of using Kian I did have a hard time connecting to Jett at first as he seemed only with Kian for spicy activities.

Eventually we do see Jett begin to trust Kian who is so giving and positive even when he finally has to ask for something he wants instead of putting a Jett first.

Quite a few detailed steamy interactions in order to introduce Jett to being with a man, and empathetic characters to root for.

A cute story with one man risking it all for his crush and another learning to love again in all the best ways.

Heather's Review:

This book combines a lot of my favourite things - forced proximity, long time crush, bisexual awakening and grumpy/sunshine into a fairly low angst read that is a great summer weekend read.

Take the Plunge was well paced and communication overcame any crisis before it got out of hand, which was lovely and made for a quick and easy read.  The secondary characters were fun and supportive even if a few tried to bring the heat...
