Rear Ended, Big Bull Mechanics #4 by K.M. Neuhold

If you're like me you've been waiting for Auggie to get his book since his appearance in Stripped from the Four Bears Construction series. We finally get to see him score the bear of his dreams in Rear Ended!

From the blurb:

Love is a highway, and Henry just got Rear Ended

I’ve spent my entire adult life working eighty hours a week, chasing money, security… success . When my recent start-up went under, leaving me with nothing to show for years of grinding myself down to the bone, I’m not sure who I am anymore. I never thought I’d be forty-eight with no money, living with my brother, trying to figure everything out from scratch. But, here we are…

All that chasing didn’t leave a lot of time for romance or relationships either. Unless you count the occasional hook-up to let off a little steam. Now I have all the free time in the world… but who would want a middle-aged failure anyway?

When one of my most recent hook-ups turns out to be my new coworker, I’m starting to think the universe is having a good laugh at my expense. As if Auggie wasn’t tempting enough with all of the tattoos and his surprisingly sweet smile, now I’m spending all day watching him work. He’s covered in grease, with his overalls half zipped… is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?

He’s impossible to resist, but that doesn’t make the timing any better. Body work is one thing, but I’m determined to keep my heart out of it. If only Auggie would stop baking me cookies and touching me in ways that keep my engine running all night long. I think we’re going to need some coolant in here, because things are definitely heating up…

Rear Ended is book 4 in the Big Bull Mechanics series but can be read as a stand alone. It’s full of mechanic puns, hilarious and swoony banter, tons of heat, and two men falling in love in spite of their best efforts to keep things casual.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

"It's not about being perfect every second, it's about loving each other even when you're not."

Tattooed hunk Auggie finally lands his bear!! I've been waiting for his book ever since he popped up as Demetri's neighbor in Stripped. I mean a sweetie mechanic, covered up to his neck in tats who loves to bake? Sign me the hell up!! I have no idea how the man hadn't been scooped up before Henry came along. It's bonkers to me! But I bet Henry is counting his lucky stars for that fact because these two were just perfect for one another.

Henry had a lot of soul searching to do before he could be the man Auggie needed. They found one another when Henry was at a low point in his life. His priorities weren't in the best order and he seemed to be of the mindset that money equaled a happy life. Auggie had the opposite in views. He was perfectly content with his life. He just desperately wanted someone to share it with. It might have taken Henry time to realize that an amazing life was within his reach if only he opened his damn eyes, but he definitely got there.

I loved meeting the new bikers who work in the tattoo shop owned by Henry's brother Jay. I'm guessing those men are going to be next to find their happily ever afters. That is of course after we finally get Riggs and Shep!! These two have been dancing around each other for far too long and I have a feeling once they finally give in it's going to be explosive! Not to mention a little hint we get about what kind of tool Riggs is working with if you catch my drift. ;) Can't wait!

SNik's Review:

Fourth in series (Big Bull Mechanics), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Mature characters. Dual POV.

Henry has lost his company, is sleeping on his brother’s couch and generally feeling like he doesn’t have much to offer anyone. When he meets Auggie and has a scorching one night stand he doesn’t expect him to be one of the mechanics working at his new office manager job at Big Bull Mechanics.

This is a lovely story where Henry and Auggie quickly fall for each other, their chemistry is off the charts and the way they get along with each other is beyond sweet. Henry struggles with his sense of self worth, but Auggie is just happy to be with him and perhaps help him see his happiness doesn’t have to be tied to success.

Plenty of steamy times as expected from Neuhold, and some fun interactions from the secondary cast of the series. The swooniest of first time relationship for two likable and deserving guys.

Sheena's Review:

'Why can’t I be the right guy for a change? Maybe I should try walking past him a few more times just in case. It couldn’t hurt, right?'

Oh Auggie, sweet, sentimental, kind-hearted Auggie.  I've been waiting and wanting his HEA since we first met him way back in Miller and Demetri's book.  I've felt so bad for him standing on the sidelines watching everyone else finding their happiness, and feeling like the bridesmaid, but never the bride.  I adored Auggie, with his baking skills, his love for Hamlet, and his determination to get what he wants yet always being completely optimistic, hopeful and fearless about falling for someone he thinks is going to walk away anyway.

'I’m going to the bar tonight and I’m not leaving without my soulmate, and that’s final.'

I liked Henry too, starting over when you've lost everything and trying, so hard, to make the best of what life had thrown at him.  I loved that when he was with Auggie, he was all in once he got past his initial reticence.  These two are just the sweetest story, with lots of heat, even more donuts and it's just adorable.  I loved every single second of this story, and was so happy to see Auggie finally find his soulmate and get his HEA, nobody deserves it more.

Another great entry into the Big Bull series, I can't wait for Riggs and Shep now.

Heather's Review:

Sometimes a character is put in a book to fall fast and hard and then spend a lot of time convincing his love interest that he is both worthy and ready for love and that's what happens when Auggie takes home "Jake" from the bar and wonders what he did wrong when the man flees into the night... only to re-appear as sweet, mild mannered Henry, who can keep up with the hijinks at Big Bull Mechanics and will eventually believe Auggie...

Well paced, steamy, sweet, funny and building on the found family and friends circle that encompass the Big Bull guys and the Four Bears guys, Auggie and Henry's HEA is Rear Ended is well deserved and wonderful!

Tatted_book_Freak's Review:

Ok, so Auggie has been so entertaining and flirtatious in previous stories, and I was so excited for his HEA story, especially since he “always the bridesmaid, never the bride”. But, the back and forth, hesitancy and constant second-guessing from Henry was a tad bit too much. I mean, we all go through our soul-searching adventure, but at the expense of another’s bleeding heart?

“𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐬.”

I can and did appreciate the chemistry between these two men!! The electricity was constant, regardless of where they were. Angst was high in this story, with a slow build up of emotions, but worth it all. And, Hamlet!! I absolutely love how each of these burly, macho men have such a soft spot for the most unique pets!

Hopefully we’ll get Riggs and Shep’s story, too, because their constant friction and sexual tension definitely deserves a release!!  Also, exciting additions to the family with Jay’s biker gang joining into the mix.
