Point Blank, Badlands #5 by Morgan Brice

Will Simon and Vic make it to the altar in time for their wedding? Janet read Point Blank, a Badlands novel by Morgan Brice.

From the blurb:

Sexy psychic Simon Kincaide and skeptical homicide detective Vic D’Amato are getting married--if the ghost of a murderous magician doesn’t get them first!

Simon and Vic’s wedding is just a few weeks away, and they’re hoping for a little peace and quiet to wrap up work before their honeymoon, but nothing ever goes that smoothly.

Strange circumstances around the death of a retired stage magician suggest supernatural involvement, bringing Simon in on the case. The dark secrets of a long-ago resort hotel lead to a trail of unsolved cold cases that have a chilling similarity. Old scandals, malicious magic, and vengeful spirits expose a web of lies, deceit, and death that is headed for a reckoning.
Can Simon and Vic solve the murders, stop the ghosts, keep Simon’s mother from crashing the party, dodge last-minute wedding disasters, and still make it to the altar on time? Or will the shadows of Myrtle Beach’s haunted past ruin everything?

Point Blank is a fast-paced thrill ride MM paranormal romance packed with supernatural suspense, sinister sleight-of-hand, mysterious monsters, psychic visions, hot men, hurt/comfort, loyal friends, wedding planning, found family, ghosts galore, dark magic, and an evolving, established romantic relationship with all the feels.

Janet's Review:

Point Blank is the fifth Badlands book. We get Simon and Vic’s wedding but of course, something always has to happen to these guys. If it isn’t ghosts trying to hurt them, it’s Simon’s horrible mom.

I freakin love these guys and their found family! Fantastic chemistry, suspense, drama and returning characters from Brice’s other series.

Overall a fantastic read. Well written with pacing that is addicting!

SNik's Review:

Sixth in series (Badlands), can be read as a standalone but might be more fun if read in order. Paranormal. Established couple. Dual POV.

Planning a wedding is stressful enough, but when there are too many coincidences surrounding a long-ago torn down resort hotel with a murder to boot, Simon and Vic are hoping for a quick resolution so nothing interferes with their special day. Simon and Vic soon find that rival magicians involving real magic may have been behind several unsolved deaths as they investigate while juggling reception menus, suit fittings, and pre-wedding photos.

There is nothing that comes between Simon and Vic, they still support and care about each other, while making sure their steamy times are a priority.

A fun supportive secondary cast of characters, along with the new mystery made this another entertaining read for the Badlands series.

Angry ghosts can’t stop Simon and Vic, and I am always ready to return to read about this couple and their adventures in Myrtle Beach.

Alyssa P's Review:

Simon and Vic are finally getting married and getting ready for their wedding. Unfortunately for them, some things go awry, and it’s pretty frustrating for the main characters, Simon and Vic.

The trouble they encounter almost gets too out of control. Their friends come in to aid them with their troublesome situation Ross, Vic's partner, helps keep him a level head, and Simon's best friend, Tracy, keeps him from losing control and from becoming too overwhelmed.

With all the problems Simon and Vic are encounter, it makes them anxious that they won’t be able to have their wedding or their planned honeymoon.

Because this a romance book and seemingly the last book in Vic and Simon’s journey, I enjoyed their happily ever after, and I’m glad everything worked out for them.

This book was so endearing; I highly recommend it, but the reader must read the previous books in the series to really connect with the characters.
