Touched by the Morningstar: Monsters of Legend, Rise of the Fallen #4 by Lissa Kasey

The Touched by the Morningstar series continues in part 4, Monsters of Legend.

From the blurb:

Imprisoned in Dracula’s dungeon with an incubus prince, will either of them survive?

A gift from Star, bestowed in a dream, helps Yuri control his power while locked behind magic wards. As time passes and he starves with the only possible meal nearby, Lucian, the son of Dracula, Yuri is certain feeding his magic would be suicide.

Lucian has returned to the nightmare of his youth, locked away and treated like the useless half-human his father claims he is. Only Yuri’s presence in the opposite cell keeps him sane and drives him mad with desire.

Can Yuri find comfort and strength with a man everyone fears?

Tatted_book_freak's Review:

The wait continues to find out what exactly Yuri is, but at least we can have a little bit of Star.  But Yuri ruining Glad’s garden of corpses was the show's highlight! Lord knows Vlad is not loved, and finding out his treatment of Lucian, he could die, and I still wouldn’t be happy.

“𝕷𝖔𝖔𝖐 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝖆𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖌𝖊𝖑, 𝖇𝖚𝖙 𝖋𝖚𝖈𝖐 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝖆 𝖒𝖔𝖓𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖗?” 𝖄𝖚𝖗𝖎 𝖔𝖋𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖉.

I’ve been waiting for Lucian and Yuri’s scene since we first met him. Though he tries to act casually, he’s just a starving child for love and affection.  And Yuri is just the one to give and take what Lucian needs.  Their passion was unlike anything I have read about, creating a hunger for hope.

Hopefully, Yuri will be able to save Lucian from Gabriel's destruction before it's too late!

Jacquie's Review:

These are in the process of being put into the authors original pen name, Lissa Kasey, which might cause some confusion.

I adore this serial and am happy the release schedule has been sped up. I'm needing to get some more answers. I've enjoyed getting the small parts, however I don't think that is continuing for book 2.

Lucian is a big part of Monsters of Legend and I absolutely hated his father Vlad/Dracula. There is no redeeming him for me. The end was pretty hard to deal with and I sincerely hope Yuri can rescue Lucian in time.

Some difficult topics and steam. I'm slowly forming a bigger picture of the world the author has created, and so far, my theories seem to be close.

Angel's Review:

In this one we get to see Yuri in Dracula's domain. Stuck in a magically warded cage with nothing but cruel  memories to constantly relive he starts to go slightly mad. He has another dream about Star but is still confused about what he is, and why he's just now getting powers. As his hunger grows, now it's not just magical hunger he's feeling, it's now human hunger as well. I feel so bad for Lucian, yes he's aloof, but he was raised by Dracula himself. A monster who has a cemetery full of suffering souls for his enjoyment.

I'm very intrigued about what's going to happen next, one more to go!

Holly's Review:

The dance between Lucien and Yuri kicks off as they find themselves imprisoned in Dracula’s dungeon. Yuri is trapped behind magical wards and is being starved both emotionally and physically.

We get a bigger insight into Lucien as a character, and I’m finding I like him more and more. He sticks his neck out for Yuri and offers to “train” him.

Vlad is just gross but I guess the bad guy is supposed to be a monster and he definitely delivers on that front.
