Hiding Place by Jackie Keswick

Stunning world, beautiful characters, and a story I could fall into easily. Holly read Jackie Keswick's Hiding Place.

From the blurb:

Can a house with a secret bring two grieving men together?

After losing his bandmates in an accident, songwriter Zach Hellig looks for a place to hide and a distraction from his grief. He finds both in a dilapidated Pele tower in a corner of Northumberland and in a sexy neighbour, whose smooth facade hides an old, painful secret that appears to be tied to Zach’s new home.

Are the rumours of an unsolved murder the reason for Robert Ludlow’s reluctance to sell Charnbarrow Pele?

Should Zach try to find answers to a thirty-seven-year-old mystery?

And having just experienced the pain of loss, should he risk his heart for a man who struggles to come to terms with his past?

***
A 45k m/m mystery romance, featuring a neglected old house in need of TLC, an unsolved murder, a grieving musician looking for a distraction, and his stern, intense neighbour who really should smile more.

Holly's Review:

Zach was hurting, lost in his grief, and looking for somewhere to hide away. After an exhaustive search, he finds what he thinks of as the perfect place. But he soon learns his new home, despite needing extensive renovations, hides a secret of its own.

Robert was forced to sell the tower. A keystone of his childhood and the place he was born and both his parents died.

Their connection is instant, but they must go on a journey to earn their HEA.

Jackie's worldbuilding is vivid and striking. The characters are deep and well-developed. The story kept me guessing, and I was hooked from page one until I reached the satisfying end.

Miki J's Review:

Loved this story!!! We meet 2 MC's who are grieving but one their own and in their own way.

Zach is a gentle and nurturing soul and the loss of his friends... nay, family... was very tough. He's found his new home and with that, finds a mystery and Robert. As for Robert - stiff upper lip and all that... his hot'n'cold routine surpasses any Wimbledon match, that's for sure!! But there is a reason for it… and I loved the suspense/mystery thread woven into the story.

The chemistry between them undeniable - very well written story with plenty of drama, suspense, twists and romance. Great novel!!
