Confetti Hearts By Lily Morton, Confetti Hitched, Book 1 - Review Excerpt and Giveaway

Lily Morton's new series combines romance, comedy and in the first book, two sweet guys who seem to be at the same weddings and on the same page, until their own... Confetti Hearts

From the blurb:

Joe Bagshaw doesn’t believe in love or marriage anymore, which is rather a hindrance for a wedding planner.

His own marriage was a whirlwind affair that ended before the ink could dry on the wedding certificate. Nevertheless, even with his divorce pending, he’s getting by. Or at least he was until he finds himself snowed in at a remote Scottish hotel with the wedding party from hell, a terrible ABBA tribute band, and his soon-to-be ex-husband.

Lachlan has missed Joe from the second his husband walked away. He wants Joe back and is prepared to do anything to get him. Being snowed in together seems to offer the chance Lachlan needs, but does he have what it takes to get Joe to trust in love and their marriage again?

From bestselling author Lily Morton, comes a romantic comedy about love, matrimony, and the best of second chances.

Confetti Hearts is the first book in the Confetti Hitched series.

Jacquie's Review:

I liked how the Confetti Hearts were worked in at the end, tying the title to the story.
Overall, this is very cute, told in a before and after reminiscent of After Felix (which I adore).

Heather's Review:

This book begins as a series of encounters before jumping into a marriage themselves without trying to actually fit into each other's worlds...  It's hot and steamy until it isn't... The second chance takes place right inside the story and is heartwarming and sweet...

The whole book is full of snark, British humour and varying emotions and is a good start to the new series!

SNik's Review:

Joe can manage all kinds of drama surrounding weddings, but he struggles navigating his unplanned marriage to Lachlan and when it ends it breaks his heart. Lachlan is not willing to let Joe go and he makes one last attempt to show Joe he is committed to Joe's happiness and desperately in love.

First in series (Confetti Hitched). Second chance. Single/some dual POV.

Wedding planner Joe hooked up with Lachlan at a wedding, and another, and then they were sort of in a relationship when they spontaneously married in Las Vegas. However falling for Lachlan wasn’t the problem, it was living with a man he hardly knew when Joe never felt like he fit in Lachlen’s life, and finds that he is not really a priority for Lachlan. Lachlan knows he messed up when Joe leaves him, and is desperate to get him back knowing he has to show Joe just how important he is and how much he loves him. We get to see the beginning of their relationship until it falls apart and then the final effort to work on communication and sharing feelings so that they can have their HEA.

Both Joe and Lachlan are likable with a slightly grumpy/sunshine dynamic and there are steamy interactions and some seriously swoony declarations and moments they share. Some funny and horrible wedding scenes with Joe wrangling all kinds of problems, and some insight into how deeply Lachlan falls for Joe even though he can’t express it at first. Really entertaining read and sweet HEA.

Sheena's Review:

First in a new series, a snarky wedding planner meets his match, but it's not happily ever after from the start.

I always look forward to a Lily Morton book as I know it's simultaneously going to brighten my day, and spoil me for anything I read after it. That was surely the case here. Once I started, I couldn't put this down.

We first met Joe in Vow Maker, but this can be read as a standalone as it's first in a new series. I loved Joe from the first moment I met him in Vow Maker and I was so keen to have his story. He's warm, funny, chaotic, snarky, and has the best stories about being a wedding planner. I loved seeing his office and meeting the others, who I hope we'll see again as I know there are stories there. His first meeting with Lachlan is hilarious, and hot too. I liked how this story almost starts at the end and works towards the HEA. I wasn't sure about Lachlan at the beginning but I came to love him too. The two of them though are just so wilfully oblivious I wanted to yell at them more than once 😂

I loved that Lachlan never gave up on Joe though, and it was thought that he'd lost him that made him wake up and see what he had. He was so determined to get Joe back even though he went about it all the wrong way, but these two were so perfect for each other. Honestly, getting married and then getting to know each other and fall in love seems a very Joe thing to do. The scottish setting was great too, and I'm glad the urge was resisted to write in a 'scottish accent', as that drives me bonkers (being scottish myself).

Of course Confetti Hearts is a Lily book so it had heat, snark, sass, and swoony lines that made me tear up. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I adored this and hope for more in the series.

Confetti Hearts Teaser 1

Excerpt:

“I’m so sorry, Joe.”

“Don’t worry about it,” I croak. “This happens to me a lot.”

I’m crammed into a tiny bathroom cubicle, holding up one end of a massive meringue wedding dress. Lena the bridesmaid holds the other end while the bride sits on the loo.

Daisy stares at me from her porcelain perch. “This happens a lot?”

“Oh, almost every day,” I say airily. “I’d bet most gay men have never had this experience. I’ll be the envy of the gay choir.”

She snorts and Lena shifts in her cramped position in the bathroom stall. “Joe’s a wedding planner, so I’m presuming this is part of his job description, but I really do think the bridesmaid’s charter needs updating. I saw mention of hen nights, crappy dresses, and bridal blues, but absolutely zip about holding a wedding dress while the happy woman pees.”

Daisy chuckles. “This will be just like all those times I’ve held your hair back when you were drunk.”

“I’m just coming at it from the opposite end.”

They grin at each other, and I shift from foot to foot.

“It’s very warm in here,” I observe. “I hope I don’t faint, because that would make this whole thing very awkward.”

“It can get more awkward?” Lena says incredulously.

Daisy sighs. “I’m so sorry but I can’t go now.”

“Performance anxiety,” Lena says. “I do hope your bridegroom doesn’t suffer from the same thing.”

I twist to face the wall as best I can, trying to avoid leaving the skin of my nose on the door hinges. “I’ll try to give you some privacy,” I wheeze.
