Book Blogger Hop - Favourite Romance Trope

It's been a while since I played along with Coffee Addicted Writer and friends for the Book Blogger Hop, but when I stopped by and saw this question, I knew I had to join this week and pop around to see what my fellow book bloggers had to say...

My answer:

Well there aren't many romance tropes I won't read, but I have a soft spot for oblivious childhood besties, second chance romance and enemies to lovers.  Then again, I also love a good power imbalance, so delicious reads with boss/employee or prof/student are also fun!

I love reading about characters finding themselves - whether it be embracing a love of lacy lingerie, exploring their bi-sexuality for the first time, admitting they like a little role play or just being open to having a romance, I'm totally there for it!

Then, I guess you can say that I'm a little addicted to sports romance, loving everything from hockey to football (both kinds) to rugby to tennis...  heck, give me an athlete as an MC and I'm there...

What about the kinkier side of romance - a good D/s relationship, Daddies, Brats, Littles... yep, I'm there for all that... polyamory, yep... a little bondage (or a lot), pet play, pony play, medical play - yep, I'm there for all of that... and I'm even up for a good taboo or pseudo-taboo story - several stepbrother romances have come out recently and I've been devouring them....

If you'd asked me a year ago, I would have said I don't read any paranormal romance, but now that's not true - I've been reading about vampires, witches, demons and more... although I'm still not a big fan of Mpreg and ABO worlds, I occasionally love a story enough to dip my toe in these waters too...

Do I like my romances hot and spicy?  Yep, I'm there for that too... but I'm not adverse to a sweet story that has more story than spice...

but to be honest, my absolutely favourite trope is forced proximity or only one bed... it works so well with so many other of the tropes I've mentioned and so many more and is a great catalyst for taking things to the next level when the characters may not have otherwise!

I will say that with reading over 2000 m/m and related pairings since I started reading this genre almost exclusively, there isn't much I won't at least try... and usually love  - when it comes right down to it, I like to read a variety of tropes and pretty much run the gamut of sweet to steamy, traditional to kinky - as long as the guys and non-binary people find their HEA, I'm there for it!

Do you read Romance?  Do you have tropes you gravitate towards?  Ones you prefer not to read?  Do tell... and then hop around and see how some other book bloggers answered this week's question!
