Aquaculture Affair, The Sea Monster's Mate #2 by Delaney Rain

"... I mean, how often is someone that sure you're meant to be with them?" - Aquaculture Affair

From the blurb:

Can a virgin and his dad’s best friend find a way to be together forever with their mersquid fated mate? Larkin isn't sure if he's got his life together or not, but he knows his love life is completely stalled out. He’s never going to get up the courage to tell Dean, his father's best friend, how he feels about him. Namely that Larkin has been in love with Dean from the moment he figured out he was gay. But can he really risk everyone’s friendships by confessing how he feels?
Dean suspected that his best friend's only son might have a crush on him. When he walks into his bedroom and finds Larkin on the bed and having a grand time with some of Dean’s dirty laundry, Dean can't avoid the facts. Or can he? Their fishing trip is interrupted when hauling abandoned fishing lines onto Dean's boat brings a blue, tentacled person in need of help onto the deck. Now Dean and Larkin are tangled together as they secretly aid an ocean-dwelling alien's recovery. Mo is the youngest child of a human and cecaelia, one of the first hybrids, who thought they were going to die in that mess of fishing lines and nets. But then they found themselves nose to toes with their fated mates, two human men who are clearly in love with each other. Mo's determined to help their mates see that the three of them are perfect together, especially while they're all confined inside an aquaculture farm. But as Mo heals, they have to figure out how to keep their mates without exposing the secret of their existence to an entire company of humans. This novella has an age gap, m/m/m, and dad’s best friend story with two virgins and a guy in his forties who thought he was the grownup, some internal angst because somebody’s an alien, kinks for man-smell and gripping tentacles, hiding out in an aquaculture farm to raise snails, and a HEA ending that includes cameos from Book 1 characters.

Angel's Review:

This is the first book by Delaney Rain that I have read and I was really intrigued by their creativity with their characters! Sean, Mo, and Larkin worked well together after they talked to each other. Not going to lie the way this story started out had me uneasy, but I very much enjoyed it once Mo's character came into the story.

I really enjoyed the writing and the creativity that went into this book, I've never read anything like it before. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is cause I wish that there were more scenes where we got to see how these three men worked as a couple outside of those intimate scenes.
Overall, though, really good. If you like tentacles and love with my dad's best friend trope, then this is the story for you!

Miki J's Review:

I enjoyed this cute novella very much. The storyline had depth (hehehehe … I couldn’t resist) and I liked how the author had each character portrayed – younger MC who knows what he wants but has a couple of secrets, older MC who thinks just that…he’s too old and the spectentacular Mo – he’s the heart and quite simply adorable. It’s just a nice and easy story – no angst, fated mates, funny banter, great friends and some steamy times.

Nicole's Review:

Larkin and Dean have a lovely age gap, forbidden love that they both have been denying. Though Larkin is technically a virgin, he's pretty darn kinky!!! A chance rescue introduces them to Mo, the cecaelia descendant of one of the first book's characters. His instincts drive them all together in this wonderfully fluffy tentacle adventure!

My only complaint with this story is actually the same feedback that I had from the first, with the length of the story the side characters feel very unnecessary.

A sweet & cute kinky monster novella. After completing the book, I became aware there was another one set before, definitely going back to read.  There were quite a few heartfelt funny moments, such as when Dean claimed to be “vanilla” yet he’s the oldest of the throuple.  Also, Larkin’s Father’s reaction was hilarious!!!

“𝐼 𝒽𝒢𝓋𝑒 𝒾𝓉 π‘œπ“ƒ π‘”π‘œπ‘œπ’Ή π’Άπ“Šπ“‰π’½π‘œπ“‡π’Ύπ“‰π“Ž 𝓉𝒽𝒢𝓉 π“Žπ‘œπ“Š’𝓁𝓁 𝒷𝑒 𝑔𝑒𝓉𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 π“‰π’½π‘œπ“‡π‘œπ“Šπ‘”π’½π“π“Ž π’Ήπ‘’π’·π’Άπ“Šπ’Έπ’½π‘’π’Ή 𝓁𝒢𝓉𝑒𝓇 π“‰π‘œπ“ƒπ’Ύπ‘”π’½π“‰ π’·π“Ž π’·π‘œπ“‰π’½ π‘œπ’» π“Žπ‘œπ“Šπ“‡ π“π‘œπ“‹π‘’π“‡π“ˆ.”

Dean, Larkin, and Mo’s relationship was rather eventful and a long time coming for Dean and Larkin. Their chemistry was smoking hot, setting fire to everything they touched, separate or together. And, the kinkiness included in this story!! I mean, TENTACLES and 2 separate anatomy for double the pleasure?!?!

My only concern, or complaint, was the claim of a few published articles, in six months time?? Not possible as it normally takes years of research before publication. Besides that, quick and humorous read!
