Biting my nails, I literally counted the minutes until the digital clock on my nightstand warned me I had five minutes until Charlie knocked on my door. I stood shirtless at the foot of my bed, eyes roaming over the discarded pile of colorful shirts haphazardly strewn across my comforter, and snagged the short-sleeved burgundy button-up. How ridiculous was it that at thirty-eight, I was acting like a teenager dressing for my first date?

I tucked the shirt into my beige cargo shorts, slipped my feet into brown sandals, and grabbed my cell phone off the nightstand. As I reached for it, my eyes roamed over the white gardenia blossom in a bud vase next to my lamp. A tender smile pulled at my lips, thinking of how Charlie handed it to me last night right before I kissed him.

Fuck, what a kiss. I’d thought of little else from the moment our lips separated. That kiss was everything I could have dreamed of and more. The way my heart danced in my chest and my belly rolled in waves—Charlie’s kiss made my toes curl. I’d shared dozens of kisses with men over the years, and only a handful were memorable. But that kiss last night beat every one of them. It was a kiss I’d never forget.

A sharp rap on my door broke my thoughts. When I answered it, Charlie took my breath away. He leaned casually against the frame, looking mouthwatering in navy shorts and a white linen short-sleeved button down, casual but classy. My mouth dried up, making my words stick in my throat. Charlie smirked and straightened.

“Cat got your tongue?” He leaned in to press a kiss to my cheek, and his musky cologne filled my nose, bringing back memories of last night all over again. “I missed you.” His whispered confession in my ear made me moan. Charlie dragged his nose along my jaw, slowly, drawing out the intimate moment.

Screw lunch. I was hungry for him, not food. His body was the only sustenance I needed. “Do we have to leave?”

Charlie laughed, taking us out of the moment, causing us to break apart. “Yes. I have an entire afternoon planned.” When I groaned, sounding miserable, he laughed again. “Think of it as foreplay.”

My dick was so hard, I wasn’t sure I could leave the house just yet.
