Kismet by Ashley James

Kismet is a forbidden student teacher love story that hurts, but not as much as it heals.

From the blurb:

Cash DeMarco

Five years ago, I gave my heart and soul to my professor. He made me fall for him, only to destroy me with his silence. I've never been the same. I finally have the chance to leave this town, start over, and try to move on with my life. But what happens when fate insists the chapter of your life that haunts you isn't over?

Stone Philips

He was the temptation I shouldn't have divulged in. The secret that ruined everything. He was the beginning to my end, and when I left, I left as the shell of the man I once was. Just like with the angriest of storms, when he walks back into my life, destruction and chaos are never far behind. The universe has a funny way of bringing everything full circle, opening old wounds, and forcing you to face your destiny.

*Kismet is a full-length, standalone, MM romance novel about missed opportunity, right person/wrong time, heartbreak, and second chances.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

"Souls don't meet by chance, and his soul speaks to mine in a language only they know.

Our love was kismet."

This book. While not nearly as angsty as I was expecting based on the blurb, be ready for Cash and Stone to hurt your heart. When their months of UST finally bring them together for the first time, it's not exactly the romantic moment it sounds like. There's reasons they've been fighting it. Very important reasons. One being Stone is Cash's college professor. Another being an aspect of one of their personal lives which you need to read the book to learn about. They chose to ignore all those very good reasons and inevitably it helps lead to their downfall.

"He was almost mine. But it's the almost that breaks my heart every time."

Gosh those two. Their chemistry was on fire and the steam was so hot and actually a touch kinky to be honest. They couldn't keep their hands off each other to save their lives. Until the separation. Thankfully, though not brief in terms of timeline, it was brief in the amount of pages it took up. And you can bet your ass the scene where they set eyes on each other again after everything had my heart in my throat. It was a rough road. Stone had a lot to make up for. Cash wasn't a doormat guy. He was a strong man who didn't shy away from making his feelings known and sometimes those feelings were ugly.

That said. There was beauty in the pain they openly shared, In their need for one another. A need, I might add, that has brought them just as much heartbreak as joy. But you can't run from your soulmate. The universe won't allow it. Cash and Stone sure learn this lesson, but they also gain a passionate second chance at what should have been. After all, their love was Kismet.
