Blitzed (Rules of Possession book 3) by SE Harmon

If you enjoyed Kelly and Blue, then you're definitely going to want to pick up Blitzed, book 3 in the Rules of Possession series.

From the blurb:

NFL tight end Andrew McAdams isn’t thrilled to be sidelined with an injury. He’s even less thrilled
about his legal troubles. Community service is the only thing standing between him and jail so...yeah. That’s a no-brainer. It's not all bad news, though. He gets to work with Jesse Fox, who is as gorgeous as he is guarded. And there's no rule saying he can't do his hours and have a little fun. Right?

Wrong. Jesse may have to put up an athlete using his center as a "get out of jail free" card, but that's where he draws the line. And who cares if Andrew is unexpectedly sweet and thoughtful? The people in Jesse’s life think he should get a life outside of charity work and find love. And maybe he will. But it won't be with a playboy NFL player wearing an ankle monitor as an accessory. Besides, anyone who dated someone like that would be thrust into the public eye. Jesse has worked hard to become someone else—someone better—and he's not about to dig up the past.

That's just not a game he's willing to play.

Too bad it’s not in Andrew’s nature to give up on something he wants. It may have started as simple attraction, but now it’s much more than that. He doesn’t just want Jesse for now…he wants Jesse for always.

And that's not a game he's willing to lose.

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's Review:

Blitzed was not a book I expected we'd be getting, but I'm really glad we did. It was fun getting to know more about Andrew, other than the fact he had previously slept with Kelly, Blue's now husband. If you don't know who Blue and Kelly are, I suggest you circle back to read the first two in the series. Yes, this could technically standalone, but Blue and Kelly make some appearances and I think you'd get more enjoyment out of Blitzed having read about them beforehand.

Jesse was an unknown, and he definitely worked hard to not fall for Andrew's charms. Andrew, of course, went out of his way to make this extremely difficult. Something about Jesse drew him in and he made it his mission to figure out the enigmatic man, even going so far as to make sure his community service was to be served by Jesse's side at the LGBTQ center Jesse worked at. However, despite working side by side every week, Jesse continued his aloofness for a good portion of the book.

"Some people liked to keep their cards close to their chests. Jesse liked to glance at his cards, memorize them, then burn them to a crisp, just so no one else could sneak a peek."

We all know that however hard Jesse worked, it was only going to be a matter of time until he gave in. Andrew was too persistent, too sweet and kind to be ignored forever. Yes, he was still cocky AF, but he was a lot more than that too. Still, even when things turned physical, Jesse continued to hold some of himself back much to Andrew's unhappiness.

"I wanted us to be more and Jesse was determined that we be less."

It was hard work breaking down Jesse's walls, but Andrew slowly but surely did it. He did it by being himself and showing Jesse the kind of guy he really was outside of the spotlight. I was so happy when both of their feelings finally came to the forefront and there was no more pretending what they had was anything other than an amazing and supportive relationship. Even when things became hectic and crazy, Jesse stuck by Andrew, thus proving he was as gone for the man as the man was for him. Proving that no matter what, these men were going to have that HEA come hell or high water.

SNik's Review:

Third in series (Rules of Possession), but can be read as a standalone. Slight age gap. Found family. Slow burn. Dual POV.

NFL football tight end Andrew has had a couple of knocks recently, he has been sidelined with an injury and has to do community service for an DUI offense. Jesse’s priority is running his LGBTQ+ community center, not babysitting the hunky football player he is okay flirting with, but no way will he trust the man with his heart, or his secrets.

Witty writing and dialogue throughout this story with Andrew the cinnamon roll and Jesse the kind hearted man with a painful past. I’m not sure why I was immediately invested in Andrew and Jesse, perhaps because they were both likable, hardworking, funny, caring, and genuinely liked each other. Andrew never wavers in his commitment to be with Jesse and Jesse is courageous in risking his heart and privacy to be with Andrew.

Wonderful read about a developing relationship, attraction, steam, and two men falling in love.

Janet's Review:

Blitzed is the third book in the Rules of Possession series. I would suggest reading the first two in the series as there’s some character crossover, Blue and Kelly.

Loved, loved, loved Andrew and Jesse! They had the best banter! Serious laugh out loud moments! They felt a little more grown up versus the first two books, which I loved.

This one will definitely be a reread for me several times! Overall, fantastic!! Well written with great pacing that kept me engaged.
