Couture Crush (Model Love) by Charlie Novak

Couture Crush is a sweet, no angst story of two childhood friends reconnecting.

From the blurb:

Beau Barrett is about to become Alt. Bride’s first male cover model, but what about his own fairy-tale ending?

When Beau Barrett arrives to shoot for alternative bridal magazine, Alt. Bride, the last person he expects to see is Cash, his long-lost childhood best friend. The spark between them is instant, but with Beau’s calendar splitting at the seams, he’s not convinced a relationship is possible.

Cash never thought he’d see Beau again, but now the make-up artist is determined to hold on to him. Cash’s life might be overflowing with events, but his crush on Beau can’t be ignored, especially when things between them feel so right.

All they have to do is navigate their jam-packed schedules, their spread-out living arrangements, and the modelling offer of a lifetime. It won’t be easy, but if they can do it, Beau and Cash might just get the chance to find the love they’ve always dreamed about.

Couture Crush is part of the Model Love multi-author series and is a 47,500-word, low-angst contemporary MM novel featuring childhood best friends, couture wedding gowns, arcade date nights, and plenty of fluff and steam. Each book can be read as a standalone, but there are so many models falling in love, why not read them all

Sheena's Review:

This is a lovely sweet treat of a story.  There's no angst, no pining, no almost-breakup and it's just so sweet and light, it's a joy to read.  It's just the story of two childhood friends reconnecting after being separated and finding they want more together and just complete each other.  That's it.  I really enjoyed it, and I'm not much of a fan of insta-love but I enjoyed this.  Beau and Cash just clicked together when they were children, and now they're both adults they find the connection is still there and stronger than ever.

It's set in the world of fashion, and I loved the idea of subverting the gender norms with the wedding shoot, I have no idea if that's an actual thing (if it's not, it should be) as I don't follow fashion but I thought it was so well done.  I liked both Cash and Beau and they were just so great together.  I only wish we'd kind of got to know them a little better but that's a minor niggle in what is a truly sweet, lovely, no angst story.

SNik's Review:

Part of a multi-author series (Model Love) but all are standalone stories. Quick read. Childhood friends to lovers. Dual POV.

When make-up artist Cash reunites with his childhood best friend on a photo shoot sparks immediately fly. Beau is a model and fashion student, and reconnecting with Cash is easy and seems like it is meant to be, as long as they can find time to spend together.

This is a sweet story of two young people starting a relationship and navigating life changes while staying committed to prioritizing their relationship.

Cute dates, steamy scenes, and honest communication all built this low angst story and gave the reader Beau and Cash as a couple to root for with a glimpse of the daily lives of a lovable model and a charming make-up artist.

Heather's Review:

Couture Crush is a sweet glimpse into a childhood friends reunited story with an instant re-connection... This was a low angst story without a big angsty breakup or any real drama and I totally appreciated it!  If you're looking for a lovefest with an instant connection, sweet characters and dreams coming true, you'll want to pick up this book!

This book was well paced, if a little light on the depth in character, relying on past friendship and connection rather than any real introspection or character growth, but it was a lovely change of pace after reading some truly angsty stories to have one that just flowed from start to finish.
