I haven't read any of the previous books in this series before and I still thoroughly enjoyed Protecting His Passion. So I think it's safe to say this can be read as a standalone.
Armand left his old den after acknowledging the fact that his dad and his den's elders were never going to change. He was tired of the archaic ways they ruled the den and the arranged mating. So he left... The night he left though he ended up not only leaving his den, but also his fated mate.
Omega Matias has been heartbroken and without his bear ever since his fated mate rejected him and left. Now on his own trying to keep 3 children who he loves as his own safe, he stumbles into Armand's new pack. That makes their past come roaring back, will they be able to talk and work through their past? Will Matias actually be able to be with his fated mate?
The answer to those questions is yes, and yes! This was so good, I really enjoy Lorelei's writing style so I kind of suspected I would enjoy this, however, I haven't read anything by Jena Wade so I was unsure.
I had nothing to be unsure about, these two authors are a dynamic duo! The characters in this book were so great! Well fleshed out, each character featured had their own backstory and all added another layer to the overall story. This wasn't insta mating which I honestly appreciated, after Armand rejected Matias he wasn't just going to fall into Armand's arms. They had to work to get to that point. But once they did acknowledge that they were each other's fated mates they were super cute. I loved the kids, I just wanted to reach into the book and give them a hug.
There is a bit of action, mystery, and steam in this book. Not a lot of steam though! Just a good amount. I really enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to reading Fractured Fang.
I highly recommend Protecting His Passion to anyone who loves seeing and omega finally get his Alpha fated mate.
