Picture Perfect (Summer of Adventures #4) by Alex Silver

Jax is a genderqueer dom with his own photography business taking both regular photo’s and kinky boudoir shots. Connor is a trans man struggling to find what he is looking for through online dating. Helping Connor check off his bucket list of kinks is no hardship, but when Jax and Connor both start to catch feelings can they move into a relationship neither was expecting?

From the Picture Perfect blurb:

Is it too much to ask for a whirlwind romance that sweeps me off my feet?

I’m fed up with one-off scenes at the club. Online dating has become an endless conveyor belt of rejection. Enter Jax, the picture perfect friend with all the benefits I crave, and none of the drama I can’t stand.

I’m used to fading into the background. Growing up as the middle child of seven siblings and now being the quiet one in my friend group, it’s easy to accept being overlooked. Never quite fitting in and never rocking the boat by demanding more than others care to give. But lately, I’ve been wanting more. More time with the family I love. Both the people that raised me and the folks I found at Adventures. More balance with my dream job before I find myself burnt out by thirty. More of everything, but I’d settle for a once in a lifetime romance.

I want to be loved and cherished by a partner who can be both a tender caregiver for my little side, and a devious dom. One who leaves me filthy and debauched. I might be asking too much. Maybe the best I can hope for is getting all my kinky needs met with Jax. Should I hold out for a love connection when being in his bed makes me feel like I’m on top of the world, or will it all come crashing down when I can’t help but fall for him and his adorable dog?

Picture Perfect is a kinky M/M romance between Jax, a genderqueer kink photographer who is not a daddy and Connor, a pierced trans boy who works for a nonprofit and just wants someone to love him. It includes sensation play, e-stim, figging, wax play, mild caregiver kink with a little who loves to get messy (sploshing), tentacle roleplay CNC, and oviposition.

Reds Book Reads Review:

Although Picture Perfect is the fourth book in the series I would say it can be read as a stand-alone - although the characters do cross over at times

I thought the interactions between Connor and Jax were really sweet. I loved how they were able to talk openly with each other and define how their relationship was going to work and how they wanted to define themselves. I loved how open they both were and some of their scenes together were really intense.

I also loved the way they slowly built on their arrangement before realising how much they meant to each other and this whole story was super sweet and I enjoyed reading it.

SNik's Review:

Fourth in series (Summer of Adventures), but can be read as a standalone. Friends with benefits to lovers. Light BDSM. Dual POV.

Connor is a sweet transgender civil engineer looking for someone to fulfill his kinks and eventually someone to share a caring relationship.

Photographer and Dom Jax is willing to fill all of Connor’s bucket list for scenes but isn’t looking for a romantic relationship, so they enter into a friends with benefits agreement.

Becoming close over months of being together starts to build feelings no matter how much Connor and Jax try not to cross the line.

Very steamy interactions lead to growing feelings and eventually sharing that maybe they are best when they are together in all the ways for an exclusive relationship.

I learn something new with every Alex Silver book I read, whether it is respecting how an individual wants to be addressed with language or how shared acceptance and finding someone that is your match is romantic and swoony.

Picture Perfect was a fun and entertaining addition to the Summer of Adventures series.

Heather's Review:

I devoured Picture Perfect, to the point where I fell asleep reading on the couch and rolled over this morning and kept reading...

I absolutely loved the connection between Connor and Jax - both the way their BDSM kinks lined up and also what they were both looking for in a relationship... it was a truly low angst read and had so many sweet moments, including negotiating a non-masc substitute for the caring Daddy vibes that Jax gave off!

I would have loved more interplay focussing on Jax's genderqueer identity, particularly when he was more fem presenting, but otherwise this book hit me in the feels and I loved how both characters presentations - trans and genderqueer were treated and celebrated!

Picture Perfect can be read standalone, but does include cameos from others in the Summer of Adventures series.
