From the Blurb:

*Note- this book can be read as a standalone. It’s dark, gritty, and has triggers to some people.

From the day I figured out what I wanted in life, I never expected my views to change so drastically. I never knew that having someone to care for would change not only my mind, but also my heart.

I didn’t think love was in the cards for me. How could it be, after everything I’ve done?

I lived on the edge of life, craving danger.

Now, everything has changed.

His survival depends on me

Excerpt:

Rolling over, I flicked the table lamp on. I found Sage on the floor. He was rocking back and forth, again. Both hands were in his hair, pulling against his scalp.

Quickly, I walked around the bed, kneeling to his level. I called his name three times, but there was no reply.

Taking a deep breath, I gently untangled his hands from his hair. He froze, holding his breath before letting it woosh out. What I hadn’t expected was him to beg, though.

“Please. No more. Please, Master. Make it stop.”

“Let me help you, Sage,” I pleaded. I wanted to pull him into me, to hold him, but I knew I couldn’t do that until his mind was present.

“No. No. No more. Please,” he cried, backing away from me. I let go of his hands, at a loss.

“You’re safe,” I stated, inching closer to him. “Let me help you.”

“Make it go away.” He wrapped his hands into his hair again.

Since he couldn’t move any farther into the corner, I scooted closer to him. Once again, I took both his hands out of his hair, keeping them clasped tightly between mine. “Tell me what you want gone.”

He whimpered in answer, lowering his head into his chest. He was breathing too fast, too hard. If he didn’t calm down, he would end up passing out.

Without thinking, I placed my lips near his ear as best as I could with his rocking. “You’re safe, pup. I won’t let anything hurt you. You’re safe.” I kept repeating it, hoping it’d get through to him.

Slowly, his breathing slowed and his rocking stopped.

“I got you.”

“Master?” he hiccupped.

“I’m right here.” Before the words were out, his hands were torn from my grip and his arms were wrapped around my neck. He pressed his face against the front of me and held on for dear life.
