When Carter moves to Morningwood Estates for a quiet peaceful existence he doesn't expect Benji. Benji is a chaos gremlin who finds pure joy in simultaneously being a major player in the HOA and all its committee while being the bane of their sanity at the same time, pure brilliance. The banter of these two is top tier, the innuendo and flamingos are a plenty. The slow burn of their courtship just fits where you can feel their building lasting connection before they have relations. The neighbors are the perfect cast of chaos and yet somewhat orderly where you truly question are these real life experiences from the author or just how they think life in suburbia is? A fun lighthearted read when looking for sweet chaos.
This is hands down the best rom-com I've read in quite some time. Its absolutely hilarious!! Full of snark, banter, prank wars, nosy neighbors, ridiculous guidelines, a naughty newsletter disguised as regulations, and so many innuendo. This book, and these characters, with have you smiling, shaking your head at their antics, and laughing out loud.
Benji and Carter, wow, what a wild ride they had. The first time they met each other ended with them both being rather..wet..(and not in the way either of them wanted to be..) After that rather disastrous meeting, they start a prank war with each other that slowly morphs into more. Into something both of them are scared to recognize or admit to, but they eventually get there in the end. Their walls come down, they let vulnerability shine through, and are honest about their feelings.
I loved this book and these characters so much! I don't think I've ever found a book this funny and amusing before, it just made this book so enjoyable to read! I also loved how we got to see the HOA, and the characters experience different seasons and holidays. I thought that was really fun and really enjoyable as well! We got to see them during Summer, Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Winter, and Christmas, (which is where their pranks wars may have started back up!)
All in all this book was an absolutely terrific read and I really hope the new guy, Taylor, gets his own story. I'd love a chance to re-visit Morningwood Estates again.
