Run don't walk to read book 2 of the Hidden Realms series. Riley and Torin continue their adventure with danger nipping at their heels, along with new and old allies, trying to save their own realm and others, and hopefully save Riley from Death's curse along the way.
From the blurb:
Riley
Everyone knows the way to a god’s heart is by tossing him onto a roller coaster… okay, maybe not, but it’s a dash of normalcy that Torin and I need before dealing with a malevolent god hellbent on destroying four realms.
And I think we’ve just stumbled upon the next one.
As if that wasn’t enough, I find myself handcuffed to a strange guy who would rather pummel me than help me, stuck trying to save Mickey from a curse that’s stolen his power (and interrupted his naps), and convincing my mighty god of love and war that we don’t need to join the mile-high club. But even as the world threatens to crumble around me, Torin’s love burns bright, lighting a path for me to follow.
Torin
I find retribution for my world in the form of another that’s plagued by an unjust ruler and whose people are desperate for assistance.
Now the real catch?
We’re the only ones who can help—though honestly, I’m not quite sure Riley and I should even be in charge of keeping a plant alive, let alone an entire realm.
Despite Riley’s magic being locked away and my own power diminished, the fate of the world is hanging in our hands. It might be asking a lot when the only thing these hands want to do is fondle Riley… I mean… save the world. Yes, that one.
SNik's review:
Second in series (Hidden Realms), must be read in order. Urban fantasy. Established couple. Found family. Dual POV.
Riley and Torin know that dealing with the god Aemon and the other horsemen is a priority, but they are still struggling with Riley’s draining magic without his horse and Torin isn’t back to full strength either. Luckily they have the help of Mickey and a new god that begrudgingly gets enveloped into their shared goal.
Another good balance of moving the storyline forward and tons of humor with banter throughout between the characters. I really enjoyed Torin’s unwavering commitment and love for Riley, the loyalty of Mickey and his close friendship with Riley throughout, and the found family that grows stronger with addition of another god that wants revenge. We learn more about these characters (both main and secondary) and I grew to love them even more. There is humor, action, steam, drama, and hope that they can overcome the bad guy and live the HEA they deserve.
Molly Otto's review:
Riley & Torin are coming to terms with what happened in Fractured Doors & Forgotten Gods, Riley doesn’t know how Torin can still look at him let alone love him. The blackness is still taking over Riley, and he must reunite with his horse to become whole once more, but for that they must travel into more realms. Neither men will allow the other without them, and you see how strong their devotion to each other is when it keeps being tested. Mickey is back and we get to see more of what makes Mickey, well Mickey. They collect another fallen god along the way, who Mickey deems his match, too bad he is a grump who just wants his revenge. They face a powerful god who they aren’t ready for but learn what is needed to take forward the next steps on their journey. As our team fights the horsemen, they collect more followers for Torin to gain back his lost power. What makes this series so dang good is the uniqueness and how hard it draws you in, clamoring for more, and hope they find a way for not only our team, but rest of the realms to find their along awaited peace.
Prior reading of FRACTURED DOORS & FORGOTTEN GODS is needed to fully understand what all is happening in this series.
