BREAK THE RULE is book three in the Kings of Heart series. This is a hurt comfort opposites attract romance.
From the blurb:
Charlie King:
As free-spirited as he is chaotic, Charlie's rules to art and relationships are as follows: 1) get messy and 2) move on to the next piece. He lives for the thrill of the new, on canvas or in bed, and just because he's over 30 doesn't mean he needs to settle down. When a pretty boy wearing a scowl and a skirt upends Charlie's life, he brings one more rule: don't fall in love. But when feelings splatter and paint spills, Charlie has to decide if his rules still apply.
Eden Montgomery:
Nothing in life is permanent. That Eden knows to be true. A safe haven baby abandoned into a broken foster care system that didn’t know how to handle a queer, gender non-conforming kid, Eden’s used to being discarded and used. At twenty years old, Eden’s clawed his way out of his traumatic past with paint chipped nails, a myriad of invisible scars, and mismatched tattoos. He doesn’t want or need anyone new in his life, but when a free spirited artist who isn’t put off by Eden’s prickly exterior finds his way past Eden’s defenses and into his heart, there’s only one thing left for Eden to figure out, if he’s willing to risk everything for love or if he’s going to do what he’s always done—run.
Break the Rule is a character-driven, fast burn, standalone MM romance. It is the third book in the Kings of Heart series, each featuring one of the four King brothers on their sometimes messy, sometimes tender paths to happy ever after. Break the Rule features a chaotic playboy artist who falls into limerance and love with an equally queer, closed off black cat type. Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster, a runaway and someone willing to give chase, and eventually a guaranteed HEA.
Molly Otto's review:
Having read the previous installments of the King Brothers I wasn't quite prepared for the ride that is the romance of Eden & Charlie. Eden has had such the opposite upbringing of the King brothers, your heart breaks for them and all they have been through. You understand why they push people away when they think they may get hurt. This books level of heat is far higher than the previous books and for this couple it works for them to slowly let their feelings come into play. Eden & Andrew (Charlie's twin) relationship is what magic is made from, these two just understand one another, and with Andrews's help, enables Charlie & Eden to have a real relationship. If that didn't work so well, there is no way these two could have become what they did. Now for the 'casserole incident' team Alec, Charlie was in the wrong, and later on that day Charlie was again in the wrong, yes he didn't have all the facts, but you understand why it played out as it did. When things get tough, it was beautiful to see the brothers give Charlie the wake up call he needed to be able to talk to Eden to show them how much they mean to Charle. A beautiful addition to the series, cannot wait to read Andrews story to see who fits in with this group and gets Andrew for the beautiful soul that he is.
