Beyond opposites. Lucas and Andrew carry competition beyond professional. How far will they go to come out on top?
From the blurb:
Lucas has a lot on his plate, looking out for his mother and sisters, and paying off an old loan from his wedding that didn't happen. When the sale of the century presents itself at the real estate agency he works for, he finds himself reluctantly agreeing to work with his nemesis, Andrew. However, when Andrew inadvertently makes their clients think they're a couple, Lucas can neither find a way out of the lie nor any idea how he's supposed to live it.
The man is an antagonizing menace. How their clients actually believe they're into each other is beyond him. It's just some hand holding...until it isn't. Yet, it soon appears that more than a commission is on the line because the longer Lucas pretends to be a boyfriend, the more he finds himself questioning where the fake Andrew ends and the real Andrew begins.
Reed Kaye's review:
This rom-com is an enjoyable story. It held my attention from beginning to end.
Andrew and Lucas both work (compete) at Andrew's uncle’s real estate office. The thing is their competition has gone beyond professional. Andrew's behavior is mostly insufferable and Lucas’s way of dealing gets beyond funny. Then they are forced into working together. That in itself made me feel for Lucas. The way they learn about each other and get an understanding for why each behaves the way they do is heartwarming.
I love the way this author can make the characters so real and the situations so visible.
Angel's review:
Enemies to lovers •• forced proximity •• workplace romance •• Steamy first times with a man •• Fake relationship ••
Andrew and Lucas's story is quite explosive, these two have been enemies practically since they met. They've never gotten along, mainly due to misunderstanding or in some cases just simply not trying to get to know one another.
Once they both get assigned to show locations to their biggest clients yet, they're forced to spend time together in a forced proximity environment. And thanks to Andrew's lie they have to pretend to be boyfriends... What could go wrong?
I was expecting this to be more of an angst driven plot but wow, this was so much more than what I was expecting. You could really feel how much these two men truly loathed each other in the beginning. They couldn't stand to be in the same room together let alone talk to each other and pretend to be a couple.
I liked how gradually overtime they got to know one another better, even when it was through snarky remarks or pointed jabs, they each slowly revealed a new layer to each other they hadn't seen or known about prior. The banter these two have is interesting for sure, they have their own type of love language. Like how Andrew's insult towards Lucas got turned into Lucas's bizarre pet-name, it was quirky and the dialogue was funny to read.
I LOVE the role Andrew's cousin and cousin in law played, that are absolutely hilarious and are really supportive side characters. I adored them! Something else I enjoyed is how Andrew grew as a person the more the story progressed, and by the end he was a changed man. He saw how what he was saying was hurting people and did what he could to change that and make amends. I love when characters have growth!
All in all a steamy enemies to lovers story.
