A sweet and dreamy finale to the Boys of Hudson Burrow series. An adult film star that leads a double life and a single dad bartender that never feels seen, until Madison takes Bradley as his fake date to an event and suddenly they both begin to see the other in a real and special way.
From the blurb:
Madison Masters is everything I want to be.
He’s confident, good-looking, and beyond popular. Wherever he appears, he’s the center of attention. It’s his natural charisma that pulls every gaze to him. Mine especially.
I have been in love with Madison since the moment I met him. The only trouble is he has no clue that I exist. Sure, he shoots me a smile when I pour him a drink, winks at me like we’re in on a joke when he flirts with guys right in front of me and does unspeakable things to me when I am all alone with nothing but imagination and free time. But he doesn’t know me.
And even if he knew me, it would never work.
I’m the father of a little troublemaker, the happiest accident of my life, and Madison is…not family material. I know his secret. I know where his popularity and money come from. I know what he does in hotel rooms when cameras are on and when the show begins.
We can never be together. We are worlds apart. We’re like two pieces of vastly different puzzles.
But when Madison Masters urgently needs a nice, anonymous boyfriend for an evening, there’s no better choice than the invisible old me. And as the night of work turns into the most magical date of my life, I soon forget we’re only pretending to dance, smile, and flirt.
If only my stupid heart wouldn’t beat so fast. If only Madison weren’t so convincing. If only we didn’t follow this fantasy all the way to his hotel room.
If only he didn’t ruin everyone else for me in a single night of unrestrained passion…
Mad For Madison is the fourth and final novel in The Boys of Hudson Burrow series. It features a single dad at 24, an elusive model who’s out to become rich at all costs, and an unforgettable fake date that turns real way too fast. Return to Neon Nights one last time with Madison and Bradley’s story and get ready for your heart to melt away. While each book follows a distinct couple and can be read on its own, reading in order is recommended for maximum enjoyment.
SNik's review:
Fourth in series (The Boys of Hudson Burrow), can be read as a standalone but might be better if read in order. Single dad. Fake relationship. Found family. Dual POV.
Bartender Bradley has a crush on adult film star Madison, but they are so different that he knows anything between them would just be fantasy. Madison needs a fake boyfriend for a charity event, and he’s happy to spend time with Bradley, but he would never hope for more because his life is entirely fake and Bradley is wonderfully normal.
This story really is full of emotional yearning, hopes and both Bradley and Madison believing they can’t have something special together. Even as they easily slide into a relationship it takes a while for Bradley and Madison to realize they have to fight their fears and take a risk in order to fight for something real together. There are some really romantic descriptions of what Bradley and Madison dream of from a relationship and it has nothing to do with lust but being cherished, seen and appreciated for themselves.
Molly Otto's review:
The conclusion to Hayden's, the Boys of Hudson Burrow series, has Madison getting his hea. Bradley is a single dad who is trying to find something more than just being a parent. The two have been in each other's orbits for a while yet haven't had the courage to try something til now. The chemistry is top-notch and well done throughout. As others have noted, we wanted the conflct earlier, so we were able to see more of them as an established couple, especially as it's the last of this series. Enjoyable read overall, and I just wanted to see more of the family as a unit over the heat and conflict of them coming together.
I love this series.
This story is about Bradley and Madison
Bradley is a dad who has never put himself first. Having a daughter at a young age and then being responsible for her had kept him focused on work and raising Lily. He has had a crush on Madison but never gets a chance to do more than dream until...
Madison has grown up with low self esteem. He has been on his own and working as a famous porn star when an event for work causes him to invite Bradley to go with him. This is the start of a very emotional and intense path to a relationship.
I enjoyed how neither character had an ego. I ENJOYED the way they each looked out for the other.
I loved the secondary characters playing a part of the story, especially Mama Viv.
Now I'm anxious for the next book.
GreenwingReads review:
While I've been a reader of Hayden Hall's books for a while, this is my first read of this series. While it can be read as a standalone, I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I'd read the books that came before. I do love a single dad romance, so I was excited to read this one.
Bradley is a devoted single dad, but he goes overboard in his devotion to his daughter a bit, by which I mean he doesn't do anything for himself. All of his energy is poured into his work and his little girl. He's a great guy, very understanding, and accepting guy. He has a protective streak and is just so sweet and supportive. This is what makes him perfect for Madison.
Madison is an adult film star and while he lives close to a lot of people he considers his found family, he holds himself apart from them. His career and his hobby are both kept secret, though Bradley has figured out what he does for a living and Madison eventually shares his art with him.
The romance build gradually as Madison has to come around to the idea that someone can love him for who he is. Madison doesn't really seem to love himself much and he has a lot of concern about the others finding out he's an adult film star. Bradley shows him that he can be accepted for who he is, and his commitment never wavers.
Overall, it's a fairly quick read with not a lot of action, but it's a sweet romance. My only complaint was that Bradley was clearly not comfortable with Madison's job once they got together, but he tried to hide it so as not to pressure Madison. I think this would have lead to some resentment down the road. Fortunately, Madison was quick to pick up on it (though he shouldn't have had to be the one to bring it up), and they work it out in a way that makes them both happy.
Heather's Review:
I'm a sucker for a single dad, especially one who is clearly as sweet as Bradley! Both he and Madison have pasts that make it hard to believe that someone would love them... and while they can agree to fake date, their chemistry is off the charts and the intensity is amazing. I loved watching these two men learn that they were worthy of love and that they could accept the love of another as a way to strengthen themselves. It was a fitting end to he Boys of Hudson Burrow series and was nice to see so many of the other characters, especially Viv have roles.
