A new series from K.M. Neuhold, the first book starts with a bang when a murderous twink meets his match in a sweet mafia killer. A revenge plot helped by an assassin he can't keep his hands off of, Sparrow definitely ends up in too deep with Xaviaro.
From the Deadly Little Sparrow blurb:
Is there such thing as love at first bar fight?
I may be small and pretty, but what I lack in intimidation factor, I make up for in violence.
I made a vow five years ago that the motorcycle club responsible for my brother’s death would pay the price, and I’m finally ready to collect. May God have mercy on the men who hurt my brother, because I don’t plan to.
Accidentally breaking the nose of the deadliest man in the city wasn’t my best move. Xaviaro Saviano, trigger man for the Moretti Crime Family... and now my own personal stalker. But if I have to go through him to deliver well-deserved justice, so be it.
As strange as it sounds, Xaviaro seems to want to help me more than he wants to hurt me. I can’t shake the man no matter what I do. Threatening him feels like foreplay, tying him up only turns him on… I could play nice, but that’s never been my strong suit.
I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t starting to grow on me, especially when he calls me his Deadly Little Sparrow from his knees. I’ve never met a man who could handle me, let alone one who can’t stop begging me for more.
Can love and revenge live in the same heart? I guess there’s only one way to find out…
SNik's review:
First in series (Mafia Bound). Light BDSM. Found family. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
A murder marshmallow and a deadly twink have a run in at a bar… and mafia enforcer Xaviaro (the marshmallow) ends up with a broken nose and a serious case of lust. Sparrow is in the midst of his revenge plot, he doesn’t need a gorgeous assassin as a distraction, but Xaviaro melts for him so perfectly, there’s no way he’s going to deny himself.
This story is actually a low angst mafia story, with plenty of violence and plenty of steam. There is a found family of supportive secondary characters, and some bad guys to kill, and there is a mutual acceptance by Sparrow and Xaviaro of each other’s morally gray views on murder. Sparrow and Xaviaro fall quickly into a possessive relationship, filled with D/s elements, and some quick insights into what makes the other tick. An exciting start to a new series, Sparrow and Xaviaro complement each other perfectly so I can’t wait to see who will be paired with the rest of the Moretti family.
Molly Otto's review:
KM Neuhold has dived into the darker side of mm romance, and it just works. She keeps her humor and spice that we have all come to know and love from her just with darker notes. This is not your typical dark romance, and it just works for this world. You feel the passion and fire of Xav and Sparrow from their first real interaction! As their relationship builds, you just want the best for them even when that means bloodshed on the horizon. Love that their dynamic is not what you expect, and that makes the story all the better. I can't wait to see more from this world and how far KM is willing to take this.
Lesetiger's review:
I love dark mafia books, so the blurb immediately appealed to me.
K.M. Neuhold has a great writing style that made it easy for me to dive into the story quickly.
Sparrow is out for revenge for his brother. He is as patient as he is deadly.
Xaviaro is very protective, but even more deadly than Sparrow. And when the two meet, the meeting goes differently than anyone expected, as Xaviaro unleashes his protective instincts when it comes to Sparrow.
I found both men very likeable and things get heated between them.
This is a mafia romance with D/s elements, which I really liked in this combination.
Sure there is violence and there are dark elements, but it fits here and I recommend reading the tea warning.
The story entertained me very well and I was captivated right from the start.
