Whisper (A Male/Male Westbrook Elite Standalone) by Cambria Hebert

Whisper is book 7 in the Westbrook Elite series by Cambria Hebert and I think it might be my favorite so far! You can expect possessive MCs, great steam, auditory disability rep (misophonia and tinnitus), and more of the found family moments this series is known for!

From the blurb:

Can you whisper?

Something I never thought I’d ask the guy who is exactly my type
but completely wrong for me.
Someone I sneak secret glances at from a distance while vowing to never get too close.
And then I get tossed in jail. With him.
Know how forced proximity and extreme panic go together?
They don’t. And the walls I spent a lifetime erecting around me crack,
giving him an intimate view of all the secrets I work so hard to protect.
Color me surprised when the pierced, tattooed DJ doesn’t recoil or call me a freak.
Arsen gets me through the night, his attention like a match to my insides,
lighting me on fire and making me burn.
Keeping my distance is impossible.
My body begs to be near him, but we just don’t mix.
He’s fire. I’m water.
Sound is his superpower but my kryptonite.
For once in my life, my heart is louder than my head, and I can’t stay away.
But it seems following my heart leads me straight into trouble.
Turns out I’m not the only one who thinks maybe Arsen and I don’t belong together,
and the people who agree will go to extremes to make sure we stay apart.

Whisper is a male/male Westbrook Elite standalone novel, a college sports romance featuring:
Opposites attract
A single jail cot
Star-crossed lovers
Auditory disability rep (misophonia & tinnitus)
Hurt/Comfort
Bromance/Found family
OTT possessive MC

Jacqueleen the Reading Queen's review:

"ʜᴇ ᴍᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴀʀᴋɴᴇꜱꜱ. ᴀɴᴅ ɴᴏᴡ, ꜰᴏʀ ʜɪᴍ, ɪ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ꜱᴛᴇᴘ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ʟɪɢʜᴛ."

Omg. I adored Prism so freaking much!! And Arsen was just PERFECTION for him!! This book falls into the insta-love category, which I usually am not a huge fan of in contemporary, but it worked very well here. Even before Prism and Arsen met, they felt a draw to one another. It isn't until they are thrust into circumstances beyond their control that their bond truly solidifies.

"ɪ ᴋɴᴇᴡ ᴛʜᴇɴ ɪᴛ ᴡᴀꜱ ᴜꜱᴇʟᴇꜱꜱ ᴛᴏ ᴛʀʏ ᴀɴᴅ ɴᴏᴛ ꜰᴀʟʟ ɪɴ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜɪᴍ. ɪ'ᴅ ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ꜰᴀʟʟᴇɴ ᴡʜᴇɴ ɪ ᴡᴀꜱɴ'ᴛ ʟᴏᴏᴋɪɴɢ."

Arsen was exactly what Prism needed in his life in a partner. Someone who recognized him for who he was, perceived flaws and all, yet loved him fiercely anyways. And I do mean fiercely. Arsen was very protective of his man, even when it came to Krugar, which let me tell you did not go over well with either Krugar OR Prism. Then again, Prism had a possessive side of his own.

The steam between these two was top notch spice!! Hebert totally brought her A-game. I also loved how romantic they were together. Arsen could be so freaking sweet with Prism. Whenever he called him his Princess I practically swooned. There were a lot of emotional moments throughout their story. Not only between the MCs, but also in regards to Elite. I knew those swimmers were good peeps and I adore the found family they all are a part of.

I thought once I finished the book that would be the end of the OMG moments, but it definitely wasn't. The author teases us with the MC of the next book and I totally did NOT see this one coming. Sadly it's the last of the series, but the fact that it's MM was another surprise and one I am ecstatic to learn. I cannot wait!
