Hummus On Rye (Real Werewolves Don’t Eat Meat #3) by Karenna Colcroft

Mystery and suspense with a loving and supporting MM relationship on the side in Hummus on Rye.

From the blurb:

A six-year-old human child, who recently moved with his single father into the heart of the Boston North Pack’s territory, is missing–and Alpha Tobias Rogan has been framed for kidnapping the boy. Meanwhile, a new pack member with a traumatic past has drawn Saul Hughes, the rogue Alpha with a grudge against Tobias, to Boston.

Kyle Slidell, Tobias’s mate, spots Saul and realizes he must be behind the child’s kidnapping. But Saul has retained his powers and uses them to erase his presence from the minds of all of the other Boston wolves. Only Kyle, with his unusual immunity to compulsion, is able to remember seeing the rogue.

To protect his mate and save the little boy, Kyle will violate shifter law and ignore direct orders from the ruler of the Northeast Region werewolves. But will he survive the fallout?

This book was originally published in 2012. This version has been revised, edited, and expanded from the original.

Laora's Review:

This is the third book in the 'Real werewolves don't eat meat' series and are best read in order since there are overarching storylines. I am getting more and more attached to the characters in the series and can't wait to read the next book later this year.

We follow Tobias and Kyle and their Boston North Pack and on the side members of the City Pack and how they intermingle. They are once again confronted with a new traumatized member, who unbeknownst to her, brings Saul once again closer to the pack. He is the bad guy in this and the earlier books.

There is also a new human neighbor, Trey, with his little boy Mikey, who does not realize where they ended up and, unfortunately, they find out the hard way to what Saul is capable of.

We also see more of Zane, Arkhon of the region and I am wondering if he is being used by the Anax, cause he feels shady to me however short he is present in this book. And I am also thinking he might have had bonds with Saul, because how would he have been able to have so much power over others?

I am looking forward to see if the pack(s) will thrive or crumble and how the relation between Kyle and Tobias furthers, how Mikey and Trey will do. Also, how will the special skills of newest wolves and Mikey develop further and how do they come in play further on and so many more of the characters. I think I will be following along the series to see what will happen.

There are still three books to come, so I hope all the loose threats will be neatly tied off in those.
