Lesetiger's review:

“Playing with Sunshine” is part of the “Pride Cruise 2024” series, which features stories centered around cruises.

Lynn Michaels has written a wonderful story. Todd, nicknamed Sunshine, is invited by a friend to a Pride cruise where they’re supposed to celebrate and have fun together. Since he doesn’t want to go alone, he asks Larry if he’ll be his fake boyfriend. I found this setup a bit contrived, since they could have both gone on the cruise together as singles.

Larry has little experience in the kink scene so far, but he’s basically open to anything. The start was a bit bumpy for the two of them, but it was nice to see how Sunshine really got into his role and how Larry slowly learned the ropes. I found Larry likable, though Sunshine’s behavior was a bit too much for me at times.

The moments when the friends played on the ship—whether as Pups, Handlers, Littles, or Daddies—were really sweet.

Tyler Laux did an excellent job as the narrator. It took me a while to get into it, but then I was completely captivated by his performance. He captured the emotions well, and it was a pleasure to listen to him!

Molly Otto's review:

Tyler Laux does an overall great job in distinguishing both MCs from one another. You never lose who's talking or whose POV you are in. He keeps you intrigued with the story.

The story itself shows two men who have issues understanding what its like to be fully accepted. they start off as fake dating you understand their hesitations with each other. Larry's reluctance to fully understanding pet play is understandable when he's always been more into vanilla relationships. Todd (Sunshine) has his own issues with all his friends now in established relationships, that doesn't help with how Larry initially reacts to the situation. It was nice to see both men grow in understanding and acceptance to the point in the end you can see how well they are actually for each other. Overall an enjoyable read.
