Accidental Blood Lust (Damned Mercenaries Book 3) by Mika Nix

ACCIDENTAL BLOOD LUST is the latest in the Damned Mercenaries from Mika Nix. This is a poly romance with fated mates and chosen mates combined .

From the blurb:

Fate wouldn’t be cruel enough to mate me to the ex boyfriend of the mage I’ve been in love with for years… would it?

The last thing I want to do is help Lochlan. He was stupid enough to get himself turned into a vampire and ruin his relationship with Jareth, and that’s his problem.

I would do anything for Jareth though, and I guess that means making sure his ex doesn't end his immortal existence prematurely just because he's an idiot and too stubborn to feed. Who ever heard of a vampire who hates blood?

My pack rescued Jareth from certain death when we were both teenagers and I can’t remember a time before I loved him. He isn’t my fated mate though, as much as I wish he was. I’ve spent decades cursing fate, and apparently I’ve earned her disdain for it because I’ve finally found my mate…

Lochlan shouldn’t smell this good. I shouldn’t want him this much, but I can’t help myself. I hate him and I would kill for him. It looks like he’s planning to test that theory too by bringing the wrath of a fae crime syndicate down on his own head.

Is there some way to sort out this mess that fate has made? Is it possible that both of us loving Jareth and being fated to each other could somehow work? Could I have them both?

… as long as we don’t all end up prisoners of the fae, of course…

Molly Otto's review:

Roman loves his bestie Jareth, too bad Jareth has a fated mate, new vampire Lochlan. Lochlan sweet baby vamp Lochlan is a hot mess express who seems to not help but get himself in trouble. With the help of Roman & Jareth they are able to stop the outside forces and find a way to not only make this unconventional triad work but stop all the outside forces that seem to keep getting in their way. These three show you can go up against fate and get what you want, even if a little compromise is required to get all parties’ ways. Seriously adored this addition to the series, he wanted to see our resident werewolf find his HEA, since the beginning, and happy he got it even if it was in the most roundabout way possible. KM & Mia show us once again why they make such a great writing team, you can feel both writers in the story, yet at the same time it flows together seamlessly.
