Trouble On Top (Formerly The Rulebreaker) by Billie Bloom

I saw an Instagram post about Trouble On Top and knew I needed to add it to my TBR, because Hockey... and what I found was a sweet with heat story with good push and pull and a HEA.  Billie Bloom is a new author to the genre and I'm very glad I've found her, both for me and for you!

From the blurb:

Two goalies and one graduation party...let the rule breaking commence!

Grayson

Honestly, a career ending injury is somehow worse when your best friend’s hot brother is watching. Oh, and did I mention he’s replacing me as goalie for the MU hockey team?

Everyone wants him, myself included, but he’s pure trouble…

If only I had the willpower to say no to him.

Parker

Grayson’s finally noticing me and it’s not just because of my hockey prowess.

He can deny me all he wants, but I can see the truth in his eyes and taste it on his tongue when I finally break down his walls.

What’s life without a little risk?

My review:

I love that Trouble On Top starts with a series of encounters instead of jumping right into a relationship.   There is a strong push and pull dynamic that sets the tone for the whole book.   I also love that sometimes the characters just aren't happy with what the other partner thinks they need...

Beyond the dynamic, even though Trouble On Top is short story/novella length the author is able to impart insights into the character's dynamics, build their world sufficiently and make me hungry to start the next book in the Bromance series, Nice Guys Finish First (which is already out)

Cassie's Review:

Grayson and Parker have known each other for years as Grayson is best friends with Parker's older brother Cameron. Grayson was a college hockey player that had his dreams of professional playing ended by a rare college injury. Parker is the player that will take his place on the Michigan College team. They have been fighting the attraction for years and during Cameron's graduation from Law school, they cave in and admit their feelings. Its a bi-awakening for Parker, since he really has only been with females up til now. Ends in HEA. Great characters and story line. Can't wait to read the rest of the series
