Warrior's Walk (Scars And Stripes Trilogy Book 3) by Raquel Riley

Rhett is a push each limit over the edge when he is hurt and has no idea what to do. Riggs has this instant attraction to Rhett and is determined to help Rhett anyway he can.

From the blurb:

Fate only takes an instant to play her hand.

Rhett Marsh

When my leg shattered, I thought my whole world was shattered.

Riggs pieced both back together again, and then he disappeared.

I never expected to see him again on the other side of the world.

Navarro Riggs is a lot of things…

Devastatingly hot.

My savior.

A brave warrior.

But, my physical therapist? Yeah, I didn’t see that coming.

I’d consider it a gift from the universe, if only he wasn’t trying his damndest to stay far away from me.

Navarro Riggs

We met on the battlefield under a hail of bullets and blood.

Our bond was instant, forged in trauma. Unbreakable. Everlasting.

He wasn’t just my patient, he was mine.

I trust Rhett with my life, but can I trust him with my heart?

Warrior’s Walk is the third book in the Scars And Stripes Trilogy. This MM romance tells the story of trauma bonding, disability and mental health struggles, starting over after you’ve lost everything, and finding your inner warrior. Other tropes include age gap, found family, and possessiveness.

Reed Kaye's review:

This is the third book in the series and it really helps if you know the characters from the previous stories but it can be read as a standalone.

I love this series. This centers on Rhett and Riggs but also a group of vets who have been seriously injured and have had to make a new lifestyle. They are involved in a recovery group that becomes a brotherhood.

Rhett is injured and has little hope of making it but when Riggs does everything in his power to save him they both find a connection neither know how to acknowledge.

Riggs is a physical therapist who is also in the reserves. While serving he is faced with a soldier who is extremely injured. His feelings for Rhett give him pause. Rhett is younger and a player. Riggs has been hurt and doesn’t want to go through that again.

Rhett just won’t quit flirting with Riggs and when the situation changes they just can’t help getting together

This story has all the emotions. Rhett’s mom is adorable. The guys of the Balls club and so much fun and yet the best of friends to have.

I’m hoping this isn’t the end of this series. There are stories yet to be told and the stories are just so grabbing that I don’t want to leave these characters.

LCDolphin's review:

Amazing story of the resilience of the human spirit when combined with love. Rhett Marsh's injuries, both physical and emotional would have most men giving up. But with the help of Nurse/Physiotherapist Navarro Riggs, Rhett is determined to complete the Warrior's Walk challenge. These characters, along with the other recovering veterans, are amazing. Tears will be shed.

Angel's review:

Rhett and Riggs's story is as beautiful as the previous two books have been. They each have been through so much in their lives, they've seen so many horrors, they have both lost people that they are closest to, and yet they both find a way to continue living. Even when it's hard and feels impossible.

I love the community Riley has created with the BALLS program, everyone there is apart of a family that supports one another no matter what. The family they have formed is beautiful, and supportive, and is hilarious too. The bond that forms between Rhett and Riggs is so precious, they dance around one another for quite some time. But when they finally stop fighting their feelings for each other it's such a profound moment of the story.

Seeing Rhett slowly open up to Mandy and the fellow Stitchers was really special to read about. He was determined to not care about anyone as much as he cares about his friend that passed away, but overtime he realized he can't just shut people out. Especially not those who care about his wellbeing and who are trying to get to know him.

I thought this was a fantastic story, I loved how there was so much discussion about trauma, and grief, and how everyone responds differently to those things, And how no one way is right or wrong. This series really shines a light on trauma and grief and what it does to people, how it can affect people in a variety of different ways. I think that has been really beautiful to read about. The characters themselves are fantastic as always, I loved each and every one. I'm really hoping Mandy gets his own story, he's such a teddy bear and I want him to get his happy ever after.

I thought the story flowed and developed naturally, there was some angst but not too much. There was some spice but again it wasn't too much of it, there was just a nice amount that helped the story further. Overall a terrific story and I am so excited to read McCormick and Stiles's story!!
